My double layer dream hammock will support somewhere around 700 pounds, yep it's not a light weight hammock but is built like a tank.

I dumped all of my air pillows for the Zpacks stuff sack / pillow. Tried all of the air pillows and just didn’t find one that worked.
Check out cave creek hammocks, picked up a set of 0 degree quilts last year and have been nothing but pleased with the customer service and especially the workmanship of the quilts

Another reason to not go to Chicago. Sorry to the chicago ppl.
I avoid Chicago at all costs, State of Illinois and surrounding suburban park districts are not hammock friendly.

That is some seriously thick thread that you are using, I have three sewing machines and two of them don't like the thick tread. No matter what I do with the tension adjustments they will not settle...
I have a dedicated 3’x4’ cutting area, when needed I set up two or four 4’x6’ folding plastic tables. This gives me 8’x6’ or 8’x12’ of working space.
Great video! Refreshing to see an alternative to Ultra light gear in use. I am too old to hump 40 pounds around these days but I do have some canvas gear I like to take out on short day hikes.
Thats actually a pretty nice sewing machine, I used that model for years and wish I still had it around. I found the upper thread tensioning to be a little quirky but once dialed in worked well....
On light materials my machine (janome 3000) will suck the fabric into the presser foot opening on backstitches, nothing wrong with my machine its just the size of the opening and lack of structure in...
I have used the Bungee clothesline for business travel for years and recently have been carrying it for general hiking. I use it as a bungee on my pack to secure my stool. I made a couple a couple of...
The Peacock hand warmers are my best winter purchase, easy to fill with no mess. Two oz gets a 24 hour burn. Light the catalyst and throw them in the bag. Needs to be in the bag for two reasons;...

Rick at Cave Creek is the best and you are right in thinking Cave Creek is the brand to watch. My quilt set is beyond any of the other of the cottage vendor sets I own in quality workmanship....
I have a double layer order #2797 and it is a tank, not really light weight but I like the durability factor.

Asked Daniel to make me some custom Multicam snake skins, delivery was within a week. $10.00 per set
The 90 degree hammock does not look comfortable at all, question is why would you buy that hammock as your first hammock?

Does anyone have the GPS coordinates for the camp site?
can the sheath be converted to left hand carry?
Top Quilt and Under quilt gets stuffed into bottom of my pack inside a large waterproof cuben fiber dry sack, this allows for the items to stay dry but enough room to let them conform to the space...
Welcome, you have come to the right place. I too started with an interest in getting off the ground. I have spent the last two years refining what that meant to me. I just ordered the last pieces of...
Take a look at the Snugpak all weather shelter, roughly 10 ft x 10 ft, pitch in diamond for fairly good coverage. Packs small and is light weight compared to the Kelty. Cost around 60.00 on amazon
Thanks for the trip report, I have wanted to hike Isle Royale since the early eighties just never seemed to have the time.
Illinois State parks are not too bad as far as fees go ( no daily use fees to just visit the park) but are very regulated as far as camping goes. Currently the use of Hammocks in Illinois State Parks...

So would the tag end of a strap / cinch buckle set up be a good water break / drip line? Never considered the aspects as described in the video. Going to add drip lines just to be sure.
Looks like with the small amount of offset between the two closely sewn rows of stitching may have weakened the fabric in that area.
I bought a set of Multicam tarp-skins from the vendor, $10.00 + 3.00 shipping. They fit perfect and look great, thanks for the link!
