I use a continuous loop and larkshead it onto the buckle. I take a couple extra turns to fill it up space. Never had an issue with them in two years of use.

Welcome to the trees, where sleeping is better.
Good to see you here.
Where did you find the blanket?
You guys are awesome, thanks!
Thanks Dragon. I have a feeling this is going to be a long happy relationship.
I was in our local thrift store today and spied a sewing machine. I just had to go check it out and was glad I did. It was a Necchi 539. Looked well taken care of so I plugged it and and grinned...
Yeah no thanks. I'll go with the original.
 My barge has it's own dock.
It really depends on you. I can use a poncho liner down to about 60* in shorts and a t-shirt. Cooler than than and I want long pants, socks and a long sleeve t-shirt and/or my patrol bag. But my...
Define "unmanageable". I still have projects I need to do. I still have materials for said projects. I still have space to put said projects when complete.
I'm not an addict. I can stop...
Olddog, its hard to really see what happened in your photo, but I'd hazard a guess that the notches were cut with the grain instead of across the grain. The mini-spreader that you made is like a...
If you are having problems seeing the pattern PDF's, go back to the untranslated page and open them there.
Visionarylion, about that ordering more. You might as well resign yourself. It's going to happen. Just like you'll make another hammock. Maybe even a tarp or two. But there are plenty of trees...
If you can hang your hammock in the house or outside and get an assistant to lay in it you can mock it up and see what you need to do to the bad instead of taking a swag at it. It really helps if...
Its a great bag to keep in the car during the winter, in case of an emergency.
That is awesome. Elegant in its simplicity.
Sewing was a skill handed down by the women in my mother's family. Nana was Irish. Sewed everything by hand. Even tatted. She taught her daughter, my grandmother to sew. My grandmother sewed...
Finally had some time and sun.

It might be called navy blue, but it is sapphire/royal blue in person.
Short grain breaks easier when flexed and bouncing is no fun. Been there, didn't enjoy it.
With 2x2's or 2x3's, be mindful of the grain, you don't want a piece that has run out. You want the grain lines to run from one end to the other, |||| instead of running across the piece at an...
Try using a sheet of Masonite as your "table". The fur will stick to the back side, but you can clean off the slick side without any problems. And if you have a king size bed, trim off a bit and...
Thanks for the tutorial PapaSmurf. I want to do a sewn on net hammock, but I've been intimidated by the process. Your tutorial may have just taken care of that. I think I'll give this a go with my...
I received shipping notices. It took several days for it to arrive and one notice came after the box had arrived.
Elessar, it isn't a matter or breaking it in, stretching is an inherent property of nylon.
The sale goes through the 7th. I picked up two more hammock blanks to put away for when I have some time to experiment.
This is the chocolate tablecloth. Its hard to capture the copper shimmer. The oatmeal box is there to give you a color reference.

There was a big box on the porch when I got home tonight. I have to say, I'm impressed with the pillows so far. I haven't opened one yet, but I could not feel a single feather in the one I checked....
Will this work for you?

Woohoo! I've been trolling eBay for over a year trying to score a MyLuxe pillow at a reasonable price. Now I can stop watching and start planning. Thanks.
I picked up a chocolate hammock blank thinking it would be more nature neutral. It isn't chocolate, it's more of a bronze. The bling isn't in your face, but it isn't a stealth hammock either.
DivaB, it looks fantastic. And a clever way to keep sticky fingers from borrowing your gear. I love it and I hope you enjoy Cupcake for a long time to come.
The 2nds yardage I bought has a thread that runs about two inches off the edge that is slightly darker. Just one thread.
I've been contemplating ordering the same tubing, but from Metals Online. They are local so I could pick it up instead of shipping it. At least there I know I'd be getting what I ordered.
I joined the TurtleDog Stand Club last week. I am a very happy camper. I spend my work week hanging in my brother's backyard so I don't have to commute or sleep on his couch. The stand is a joy to...
Diva, I'm sorry you missed the hang, but thank you so much for sharing your DIY projects with us. You are an inspiration. Because of you, I now have a tablecloth and a 108" organza overlay on its...
Cinch buckles from OnRope1
Seat belt webbing if you are a DIYer.
If you don't want to fuss with it, they'll do the loops for you. You can order a 30' and then cut it in half.
I had to share Bigbogg's post with my wife. When I was done, she looked at me like I'm a small child in need of small words to help guide me, which she does frequently. "Of course he did. Dutch is...
I like your take on the organizer too. With Rev's advice on the pockets, I think it will be what I've been looking for.
Thanks!
How's the thread and coffee holding out for you SamuelJD?
Take pictures when you do please. We left Cruces to come up here 7 years ago. We keep talking about a trip home, but....
Great looking hammock.
Taking it out to the Lincoln this weekend and giving us a review? I'm looking forward to reading your review. We're tempted to pull the trigger, but just don't know yet.
I've found that the easiest way is to either use a razor blade or to make a loop and pull down as you slide the loop over a blade. It works with scissor or knife.
Its going to be stiff until you warm it up. When you roll, you'll hit another stiff spot until you warm it up.
Still available?
You might be surprised. You won't know until you ask. And besides, as the Rev said, its whole of machine, it might be worth the investment.
Whew, at least you didn't call him Ben.
Love the hammock idea. I bet he's much happier swinging.
I think its fabulous! And you have plenty of time to knock out another one before Christmas. You already know how it goes together, so that cuts out a lot of the build time.
I'm with your wife...
That is impressive work. The quilts look great and so does the tarp and when you factor in the timeline, you did impressive work there.
Now lets be honest here, we all know that if you could hang your hammock in your apartment you wouldn't get any grading done. None of my family or friends have ever gone more than 30 mins in a...
