Welcome to HF from Soco Gap, NC
I really like my New River from Arrowhead
Just need to add the fly rods and the rest of my gear and I'm just about be set!
Can we get a Brown trout pattern to go with the Rainbow trout pattern?
Signed the papers and spent a few nights in the new house. I'm slowly moving in and brought the first truck load up. Set the Hammeck stand up in the den and have no plans on taking it down anytime...
Welcome to HF from Athens
Many of the cottage vendors now offer a 13' length. All of my tarps have a 13' ridge line and my pup and I really like the extra covered space for a small weight penalty when backpacking.
Love my King TQ and all my WL products! Marty and crew are great to work with and produce a quality product.
Love the idea of a Georgia Pollen Hang! Prizes for the most pollinated tarp.
The Jacks River Trail has 27 water crossings and plenty of trout. It's a great summer hike with cool water and great scenery.
Welcome to HF from Athens! Lots of great DIY info on the site
Next week I will close on my house in hammock heaven! I'll be moving to North Carolina in the heart of the Balsam mountains between Maggie Valley and Cherokee, NC. When looking at houses the...
Great to see the family out having fun! Thanks for another great video
Looks like a great time! Sometime an overnighter is just what you need.
Welcome to HF from Athens
My grand daughters Christmas play is Friday night so I can't make it till Saturday. Like Laybee, one nights better than none!
Buddy and I are looking forward to it.
When and where do you have in mind?
I used a Noah's 12 for years and always in A-frame and porch mode. The ends can be closed off but I like more room. I used a Grizzbeak on one end to seal out the wind and rain and that worked pretty...
Welcome to HF from Athens. Look for another Georgia group hang coming up this month.
Here's some pics of another fine hang. Thanks to everyone who made this another fine event.
Ghostly visitors to camp....
Waiting on a call from the insurance folks and it's off to the piney woods! See y'all there.
David and I will be there but Marie has decided to have a girls night in with her daughters.
Great looking job on your tarp. I like to doors on just one end, good coverage plus ventilation. I use a set of Grizbeaks on one end of my 3 season tarp.
We'd be glad to have you join us! It's car camping with a short walk to the camp area. You can have your pick of trees, there'll be plenty of them. Hope your wife is doing better....
The small S hooks go into the small holes on the top of the end cap. They are used to attach the tarp to the stand....
Another great looking trip. I been enjoying the Instagram pics! Such a beautiful area!
Troop 36 in the early 70's. I got my hiking merit badge walking those sandy forest roads and trails. We moved to PA. and I joined troop 728 and learned to love the mountains and snow camping. Good...
Thanks for sharing the adventure. When I was a Scout in Orlando we did a lot of camping in the Ocala NF. Wish we had hammocks back then.
look forward to checking it out at the hang.
Another fine adventure! Thanks for sharing. Loved the Minnesota Smith and safety meeting reference. Hadn't heard those in a while.
Another fine adventure with Mr. B. Do y'all ever encounter any rattle snakes and how does Baxter react to them. I've only come across one while hiking with Buddy but it turned out OK. It rattled far...
There are four tie outs on each side so a tight pitch can be made. I don't have panel pulls due to using an internal pole mod for support and structure. Using the tie outs in the middle would have...
I love my 13 X 10 rectangular tarp. Not too heavy, great coverage for me and the pup and has a variety of pitching options. YMMV
Now that's a tarp! Congrats to the Meck's and Squidbilly for a fine creation.
I used a pad for many a year but once the switch to an UQ was made........there's just no going back after being wrapped in down goodness.
Sounds like a great bit of kit you're putting together. Best of luck on their maiden voyage.
I like the term Camocking. It should be done whenever and where ever the need arises.
Now that the weather is cooling off there will be more group hangs in the works. Hope y'all can make some of them.
It was a serious combination of tarp and stand joojoo!
Those are some great views! That may have been the last bundle of wood left from all the others they brought in. Gotta like those midweek trips.
Not my story but....there's a buffalo in my hammock!
Camocking...........I like that!!!
Welcome to HF from Athens. We're having a group hang at Ravens Cliffs the last weekend of this month. Come out and join us if you can. Great group of folks to share a campfire with.
As long as you're willing to keep your lower half covered the HUG will work fine. On those hot summer nights that's not always easy to do but this time of year should be no problem.
I use a Fronkey style bug net but leave the bottom open so it hangs to the ground. With his bag under the hammock Buddy is surrounded by the netting and has room to move around....
While it wasn't as large as your Kauri trees, it was big enough to have done some damage had it fallen the other way....
Set up my new Hammeck stand to test it out and enjoy some of this rainy weather pattering on the tarp. One of my original hammock trees died several years ago and a new hang spot was made. We've been...
if you want to avoid all the Octoberfest traffic in Helen here's the directions
From Cleveland take hwy 129 N. Make a right onto 75A. After you pass Smithgall Woods / Dukes Creek make a left onto...
Say it ain't so! Georgia will loose another good one. At least you'll be closer than the Ox. Hope to see y'all there.
