Yeah, I have the small carabiner ones. "Not for Climbing"
They're rated at 50lbs - My guess is the rope tightener and not the carabiner
either way not really an issue as I use them on my tarp...

This doesn't really answer your question but you could always look for three trees to use just like setting up the Clark Vertex. Wouldn't be the same trees, but you'd still be pretty close together.
