It seems so odd to me that people will show up at a location like that and then get into a fight. A buddy and I were hiking the Skyline Trail in Beavers Bend this weekend. That trail is around 7...

I'm a hammock noob myself, so all I can say is, it looks better than mine! :) So you're in Hallsville? I work in Longview and live in Big Sandy, a small world it is.
I am new as well, but wanted to add that while I used the yarn darning needle to make my first whoopie slings, I have since found some big tapestry needles that seem work better for me.
One day I'll make a hammock that nice! :) good work!
Thanks all! I look forward to getting out this fall (hopefully) for some overnight hammocking. So far its just my backyard in the evenings when its only 90ish outside.
I want some camo straps or...
Made my first hammock this weekend, using ripstop I bought at Hancocks, I have no idea what it is, I would assume that it's 1.9 as I have read here that is what is most common, and have used it twice...
I have been a DIY person for a long time, and it goes for just about anything, I love making or rebuilding things just for the sake of doing it. Buying something may sometimes be less expensive, but...
Grats Jax!
I dove in and made my first gathered end hammock, nothing special, and I had my sister hem the fabric for me because she has a sewing machine and I don't, made my first whoopie sling, and my first...
Thanks Hippo and Ramblin :)
Not to hijack your thread, but my sister has offered me a Singer, (she says it's supposed to work) that she claims is 50 years old, would it be good to take her up on it?
\m/ rock on! \m/
Thank you sir! I went ahead and brummled, it seemed the easier thing to do with the resources I had on hand and I learned something to boot.
Thanks ldcakes, I took your advice and made some locked brummels, thanks to opies video instructions, I think they have worked out nicely, though with 1/8 inch line and only having access to one end...
So true! Knowing these are your last few minutes :( lol
Yes, that is what I mean, I didn't use a locked brummel, I just doubled the rope ran it back through it self and tied the loose end on the working end, is that gonna drop me on my rear?
Oops! Made my first whoopie sling tonight and used 8ft of line because I figured I could always move the spike up and down along the tree hugger. Oh well, I still have enough line to make 6ft'ers if...
I go out about 7:30 or 8ish in the evenings into the shady woods of my backyard and hang there for an hour or so and read till it's too dark to do so. Last night was very nice, I listened to the...
True, he wasn't alone, and I guess the odds of it happening are pretty slim, the article said it has been 25 years, but that would be my luck! :scared::lol:

I reckon that's why this topic exist! That has to suck, a lot! One minute you are on...
I've been wondering about this too, great topic! I would love to spend the night in my back yard in my hammock, but one thing keeps me from it. Sometimes at night, while I am reading, especially if...
Howdy from Big Sandy, Tx
Woot another Texan! Welcome!
My father-n-law in told me about it back in November of last year.
Welcome, I am a hammock noob myself and have found plenty of info here.
Thought I'd respond to UncleMJM here instead of hijacking the other thread.
Thanks for the info Uncle! I am brand new to hammocks, just bought my very first one about two weeks ago. I blame...
Welcome, rather new here personally, but have been a fan of Shug's for a good while.
Greetings from Texas!
I'm in Big Sandy myself and am planning on checking out the Old Sabine Bottom Wildlife Management Area, it's near Lindale. Not sure if a lot of people know about it. I have lived in East Texas for 32...
I am brand new here and really like this forum. I don't see how anyone can walk onto someones private property and claim Freedom of Speech. Your house, your rules, thanks for having me :D
Welcome from Tx  I joined about a month ago myself, this is my first post.
