Worth a try. I think connecting them with external (no hole) lashing might be better than running cord through the pivot hole. The pivot hole would try to act like scissors...or a nice steel pin.

WV...Nice...however, I would trim the excess off from the back side of the stake. It introduces another lever into the equation that might tend to pry the stake out of the ground.
For the sake of argument, the fulcrum point will be at the highest point that the soil has the strength to support the stake and not allow it to "cut in" any farther. At least that's my story and I'm...
