Thx all. Sounds like I need to try the dummy option.

BTW the quilt is box wall, but not differentially cut. It has shock cord all around, attaching to press studs located on the hammock.

Yep, it's filled with about 150g of 900 loft down, and when flat, has a loft of about 4-5cm, so it looked toasty enough for what I was doing, which was summer useage (nb 8-10C, not F).

  3. Why did I freeze my butt off with this UQ?

Recently returned from NZ. My first experience sleeping in a HH, using a 3/4 length UQ that I thought I had designed very carefully, as per piccies.

It was probably 8-10C at night, and a bit...

    Hey, Motas,

Why don't you just try the HH first, without modifying it. Once you've tried it out, THEN go about making the ultimate hammock.

I bought one earlier this year, as "an idea" for my...

Adding a zip "side entry" to a HH

I have a "bottom-entry" HH, and decided it would also be useful to have some form of side entry, so that I could adjust UQ; get things off the ground; be passed a cup of coffee in the morning etc.

How about you just lie in your hammock, and measure your "space" that is required. You can always use some foam under your feet, and a pillow if it is too small.
