Now this is awesome!
Thank you very much for putting this together! Well done and great music choices to boot.
Good review. I have a strong feeling that quit a bit of HG gear is in the near future for me.
Drool worthy to say the least.
Wow thats a really really nice piece of kit. My wallet is aching already.
This is not helping my gear lust situation.....
lol
Thanks for posting those pics Flatline!
I wonder how long before they get the urge to try it for themselves....
Most officers I know are pretty keen on the outdoors.
That is what I'm talking about! Im always surprised I dont see more of this...
I am always a nervous wreck when USPS is involved....
Don't ya' with you could buy everything face to face?
I could use a whole new hammock/tarp setup.
Been eyeing the WL Snipe and a Hammock Gear cuben tarp for a while now.
Really want to try a differential cut UQ as well.
Just a thought. Every wilderness living expert I have ever seen uses a wool blanket as part of their kit.
Thanks for posting the pics! I really hope He can work out a steady supply of the camo cuben because I want one in a big way. Been waiting to upgrade my tarp an now i know what I was waiting for :)...
LNT concerns have gotten way, way out of hand these days. I like the idea but I feel people go to the extreme.
We came from the forest and we have every right to return. So what if I leave a few...
I am gonna have to agree with the " If you can't keep a down bag dry, you don't belong in the backcountry " Stick to car camping or traveling well-trod, safe and short loops that are close to said...
I am pretty paranoid in this regard. Look up. Push and pull load bearing trunks. Be very wary of oak trees in California. Widowmakers can "glide" almost. If you're on a slope (man I love hammocks!)...
Wow I am appalled. I can't believe someone would do you like that. Karma is a cruel yet vindictive mistress though. They will get theirs in the end!
+1 on stealth hanging. Has the additional...
Headed to that part of the state tomorrow for a whole week of packing. Hope I dont run into your friend..... Never made the hike up grasshopper but I have been up strawberry rock. Highly recommended...
Shug you hit the nail on the head. Awareness is key.
I feel people take odor isolation to ridiculous extremes. It's just not a feasible concept with bears and their amazing noses. Be smart about it but also realize there is NOTHING practical you can do...
I am all about stealth camping and bushwhacking. That is what drew me to hammocks initially. They allow you so much more flexibility. I cant even remember the last time my
'site" was on level...
Not sure why I didn't mention this earlier picya12, one thing I am not without in bear country is an air-horn. Will send any critter running for the hills! They have nice compact ones too. Perfect...
90 min on tap you say? Oh how jealous I am! (apparently there is an elusive 120 min as well...) How was your time in SF? I was born and raised there so I love to hear what people think :)
Railroad spikes still fear me to this day even though I no longer work on the tracks :D
Brilliant!
Thanks for the graph aswell!!
Thanks for bringing that up jlancon. It's not a simple matter of your weight but the actual load. From my understanding the closer you get your lines to horizontal, the greater the load on your...
lol. Well I'd say it really depends on the beer...
Budwisery types = lots of water so good square yardage!
Dogfish Head, Old Rasputin types = fall asleep way to fast to think about bears!
Semi-off topic and not always appropriate but when I am in remote areas, ones where no one else will be using my "site", I pee liberally around my camp. On these occasions I have had zero wild life...
Sounds like a keeper Desmobob :)
I'm loving these back to the ENO threads! They've got me chomping at the bit to get out and hang in my new DN!
I am a long time HH user and just bought a DN today. Had a chance to spend a bunch of time in a buddys Double over the weekend and just loved the comfort!! Like Silverfoot said some folks do it the...
Was up at Castle Crags over the weekend and got to do some extended lounging/laying in my buddys ENO DN and found the open feeling, wonderful material and comfort to be amazing.
I've been in my HH...
Twenty kilonewtons ensures i sleep soundly!
REI very often will have a particular color of a given model marked down/ on sale. Recently picked up 2 C.A.M.P wiregates for just a smidge over $10 out the door.
Gotta add that as many of you have said, I often use 1-2 or 0 pegs because I can usually tie off to trees, roots etc. Craftiness seems to shed pounds faster than $$$ sometimes.
MSR groundhog's get my vote. Heavy? Yes. Tough? Indeed. In a rush to get my tarp up on a cold, windy night I became very frustrated not being able to drive my last peg. Thinking i was hitting a rock...
The Cuben should wear well as long as you go for a decent weight and not the super, super light stuff.... CT5 is nice :D
I have a winter nest for my HH Explorer Deluxe. With the longer hammock, it does seem to take a bit of time to set it up right. It seems as if it is optimized for a standard length HH. Once i had it...
I was always interested in the HH's we had in the store when I worked at REI once upon a time. It wasn't until many years later I finally picked one up. Despite a poor set up and cooooold back my 1st...
Cuben is a good idea! They have some really beefy (for Cuben at least) stuff that I have yet to see anyone use. The CT36FC.5 and CT36HBFC.5 (hi-bias) are the heaviest grades that I'm aware of. It...
That is some great info Jerry!
Dan McHale no longer seems interested in selling his Spectra fabric unfortunately. That fabric is unique to him and quite different from the spectra you see on Ebay for ballistic vests (this is not a...
