Never finished, I'm afraid. I blew a disk in my back and have not been hammock camping since. Since surgery, I have been hanging in my yard, and probably could camp again. But I think I'll just be...

Never finished, I'm afraid. I blew a disk in my back and have not been hammock camping since. Since surgery, I have been hanging in my yard, and probably could camp again. But I think I'll just be...
Subbed! Thanks for a great idea. I've always rolled by hand but not always happy with the results.
OldRagFreeze, can you post a pic and/or clarify what you do on the doors without cord? I'm trying to put together a rig that only requires 2 cords for four doors. Thx.

I have my own bridge hammock project laid out on the sewing table right now! I'm happy to follow this thread as lumberjack puts his together. Good luck!
Wow! Awesome looking gear!
I made a mockup using an old tablecloth, some cord and some pins. I think I want to shorten the spreader at the foot to 32" and narrow the hammock material there to 40 inches. That looks like a good...
Grizz,
So would this be a good starting point for a guy at 6' 1"? I'm not sure I want to use the parabolic ends, as I understand them, but I just want to get the general sense of the 2D main body...
OCDave, I'm with you....
+1 gunner 😼
Would like to purchase. PM sent.
Update: I took it! Payment sent.
Yeah, I'm interested but would like you to put it on a scale, if possible. Thx again.
Can you me more specific about what "around a pound" means? Total weight, including poles and all... Thx.
Mine took about 3 weeks to arrive. Definitely worth the wait. I'm gonna document making he guy lines and will post it later.
I now have the materials necessary to put together guylines for my HamockGear CF tarp. With my nylon tarps I always include shockcord tensioners. But I think I read somewhere that, because CF does...
I do like that mesh pocket. It could be a great way to stow a wet tarp on the outside of my jam 70.
That is brilliant! I'd have missed that completely and it'll be a big improvement for my own tarp rigging. Thanks!
Thanks for the report, Jerry. I was sorry to miss the hang. LT backpacker that I am, I'm always startled, and a bit envious, to see things like boxes, tables and chairs in a trip report. Living the...
Anyone receive a shipment lately who can tell me about how long it took? I am waiting for mine.
What a great thread! I was disappointed to find many of these knots missing from the Animated Knots by Grog app (for which I spent $5), but a YouTube Playlist gives me a quick review of all my...
Sounds like a good system for you; "hang your own hang," as they say. That arrangement is similar to how we secure the main sail on a friend's boat.
Ah, the Internet and PayPal make it sooo easy to spend money. I just blew $34 just for some fancy tie-outs for my tarp. Sigh. Well, it's a very expensive tarp and I have had many people, myself...
Snakeskins are a huge convenience. I can hang my tarp, in the skins, and have an unobstructed view that I can convert to rain cover in under two minutes.
I used my Big Agnes Lost Ranger with pad in sleeve until I sewed an under quilt. Worked fine and I only switched to save weight and enable colder hangs. I would not go below about forty degrees f...
Wow! Great looking tarp. Congratulations.
Hey, all. I've been knocking out several small tyvek projects lately, taking advantage of some recycled USPS mailing envelopes. This time, because my silnylon stake bag has developed a hole, I have...
Wow, I'm bumping this thread because it's going to save me a bunch of work on the tensioners for my new tarp! I tied the last ones with cinch knots and I was thinking about cool-looking surgical...
Very nice. I subscribed so I can find this later. I did a square bottomed sack today, and an envelope-like ditty bag but I want to do a cylindrical sack later. Thanks!
Seems like this should get a bump. Nice pack for a good price. I'm not in the market myself, but someone else?...
Great catch on the booties!
Yeah, I'm gonna order a second one and see if it's better than the first. Cheap enough for a second chance, given the number of satisfied customers here.
Still waiting on my HG shipment. Sigh.
Pics please.
One tip is to have a loop of cord on your toggle; it makes it easy to pull loose from a tight hitch.
+1 on Ultimate Hang. A must have.
I like to be surprised on Christmas but I happened across a $299 payment to Hammock Gear in my PayPal account. Looks like I'll be finding a cuben fiber tarp under the tree. Yippee!
Anybody else...
Just saw an arrangement where the line was fixed permanently on the stake end and the free end was hitched to a shock cord loop on the tarp end. Seems like a good setup and cords store w stakes.
Go for it, IronFish, I'm staying in tonight though I hate to pass up the chance to try single digits. Post us a pic tomorrow.
It got down to 16 degrees overnight here. I moved my hammock out from under the patio roof and set up my tarp, for a bit more accurate testing. I was absolutely fine temperature-wise. Even got up and...
Shoot I'll be in Cancun. Oh well, I'll find me a hammock down there.
One advantage of the Farrimond Hitch is that it is tied in the bight so you can easily tie a friction knot with a line, e.g. a tarp ridge line, even with an extra 20 feet on the end.
Talox, are you sleeping out?
I had just your setup and sewed a down underquilt for colder temps. Testing it tonight w 14 degrees in the forecast. I find the pad good to about 40 degrees, then I want down.
How do you think the Farrimond compares? http://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Farrimond_friction_hitch
My 2 cents: lower head has little impact on my Darken UL. I have a ridge but it's mostly off my diagonal. No big problem.
Prediction for tonight is 16 degrees. Then clear and 7 degrees Saturday night! Unheard of here in the Willamette Valley, Oregon. I don't expect to sleep in 7 degree weather but I'll definitely give...
I use a Big Agnes bag; they do not put down in the bottom. It's very nice when I add a pad, because it slips in a pocket on the bottom of the bag, so does not slide around. My son's pad always ends...
Can use a down jacket zipped over hammock end for a cozy footbox. See pics from last night's test: https://www.hammockforums.net/forum/showthread.php?p=1147758#post1147758
One idea is to use a down jacket as a footbox. Check the photo in my thread from last night. https://www.hammockforums.net/forum/showthread.php?t=84308
Sorry, meant "accurite" though I believe it was spelled "acurite" on the device.
I tried an accurate and it was terrible. Still looking for a small device that'll remember over night low. In meantime using the one on my watch.
