Love this idea -my nylon tarps are heavy for backpack....but I also have a miltary bivy I have put in hammock in Joshua Tree. Only downside is hammock gets wet without a cover....

REI tried to talk me out of nut and into cams. Cams are better hold if mechanism stays locked.
