How small does it pack down?
I have used this combo several times...works fine, though Paul had some fitting suggestions for me. Nice warm UQ.
Got the socks ordered....just waiting in their arrival!!!
I also bought the Mountain Goat Snakeskins...I love the! Very well made and priced fairly. A great product and vendor. I would buy another set in a heartbeat. When I have another tarp, I will.
Yeah, there's no water in the falls on that video...by the way, the name of them is Shoshone Falls...hers a video from Spring 2011, when the water was higher.

in Florida (just north of Walton Beach). I'm heading that way with a troop of Boy Scouts next week and I'm curious to know what the hanging is like at their property. Several of our boys, and a...
I knew Mark and (still) his family. He was a great young man who will be missed by many. In fact, we had another friend who we went to lunch with on Friday who came from Arizona to attend the...
I added tie outs on the center to my GG tarp to pitch it square...tie guy lines to the inside pairs of side tie outs and you have doors too!
I have one I bought last spring, and just ordered two more.
I bought an OES tarp this past summer. I got the tarp in a reasonable amount of time, but communication was pretty sparse. I understand being busy, but when a customer is waiting on the answer to a...
Man...those tents are beautiful (I have a soft spot for the MSR stuff). Almost (but not quite) enough to make me go back to sleeping on the ground...
Then I remember the morning I woke up on Mt....
No water this time around...I've never seen it so dry. Barely any water in the stream at all.
I debated on the black vs grey tarp for a few days and just decided I didn't "stealth" anything, so...
Thanks for the tips Paul...I'll give it a try this week. See if I can get it to work that way.
I could sure tell when I let a gap open between the gap and the hammock as the cold air just poured...
Went out for the first time since an AT trail hike back in June. Down near Goodwater, AL. I got to put my new MacCat Deluxe and Lost River UQ to use for the first time. I was very happy with both,...
use the code "Hammockforum" in the discount code field at checkout.
I never had any trouble with my Thermarest ccf pad shifting around in mine...it actually helped spread the hammock a bit too.
Redden Marine has Lash It (grey) for $25.67. (180' spool). Use the discount code "Hammockforum".
Just got mine. I can't wait to make all kinds of stuff with it, including whoopie slings for my...
I am 5'8" and weigh around 165...I have the 1.0 double layer (also because I wanted to use a pad)...
unless you plan to put on another 25% of your weight, you aren't near the max flatness rating,...
I just ordered some LashIt from Redden Marine...I'll use that for a ridgeline and a couple of other smaller projects as well. Non-stretch claims and lightweight specs, gray color and the ability to...
I found that a Tylenol PM before sacking out not only eased some of the aches of the hike from the day, but eased the transition to sleep. (the lack of pain also helped the comfort level as well).

Much thanks to all who offered advice...
Imagine my astonishment when Shug, of YouTube fame and glory actually responded in my humble thread...I took a screen shot and it will live framed, next to...
I am in the process of putting my OES MacCat Deluxe into service (I built some tie outs that I'm happy with)...now I need to do a ridge line and so I'm curious what line material is favored for light...
Thanks Paul... Do you have any photos of a grey one?
Are you referencing the load capacity, or their weight?
How would this UQ work with a WBBB? (I know nothing about the Speer, so knowing it works with that doesn't tell me much... :) )
But I don't stealth, so I'm not worried about that...I do love the black...glad I chose it.
I've got a single nest I'd trade for a double...barely used...Blue/Royal.
Cool...I think that's what Imma doing, because the bugs down here in the swamps are thick and nasty.
No snakeskins for me yet...when I get out of summer time and trips and all, I'll take the time to make some, or I'll get really lazy and just buy some.
It took me a long time to decide between...
If I treat my WBBB with Permethrin, will it damage the material at all?
...Deluxe in Black today in the mail.
Beautiful craftsmanship, stitching, etc.
And holy cow! I can't believe how slippery silnylon is...
I can't wait to use it this weekend.
I used that bag on an AT hike last month...worked great...I had a extra fleece blanket with me just in case, but with a ccf pad in my DL BB, this Marmot bag (it's actually more a liner than a...
I think from reading the comments on the ENO hammocks in this forum that it's closer to consensus that the ENO hammocks are actually pretty comfortable...easy to get flat lay in.
I quite like my...
Don't bother with Rustic Sportsmen...I ordered one from him last week...waited for a week with no ship notice, and emailed several times with no response. Finally, after sending several emails, he...
The wife just called to tell me that I had a box from Warbonnet Outdoors on the doorstep. I was getting a bit stressed because I hadn't seen any shipment notification.
But all is right with the...
Thanks for all your help folks...I tried several suggestions and think I may have hit upon the solution...the bobbin tension was too loose.
Things still aren't perfect, but at least I don't have...
DOH!@! I'm hoping my ship notice shows up...I ordered a 1.0 DL which showed in stock...Brandon said he was shipping early this week, so I'm praying mine is in this batch, but no ship notice yet...:(
You could head up any of the canyons east of the city...UTA (bus system) has routes up Big and Little Cottonwood canyons...plenty of places to hang up there. And very few more scenic.
I just ordered a 1.0 dl last night...Brandon said that he was planning to ship several hammocks the first part of next week...I hope mine gets here before I leave for the AT on the 20th.
I can't...
Folks, thanks for all the suggestions. I just got home from a long day and I'll start trouble shooting with your ideas tomorrow.
I have been working on a tarp, a simple square 10 by 8 tarp. I borrowed a sewing machine to do the ridgeline stitch while waiting for a part for my wife's machine to get in. The borrowed machine is...
Too bad about the WM not being waterproof for you.
The stuff I got certainly passed the test I gave it...bundled up a big bowl shape, poured in a load of water and let it hang 24 hours. No...
I'm making my first tarp...I have some coated ripstop from WM, in 66" width.
Looking at some of the patterns out there, I've noticed that there aren't any tarps at 66" wide. So maybe that width...
Mi madre checked her local (Utah) WM for me last week and scored 40 yards of what appears to be 1.1 ripstop, coated in a digital camo print. I've got it under water right now to see if it really is...
This is the way I did it as well...seems simple and easy.
I took 12" of shock cord, looped it through the tie outs, then used "mini" whoopie slings for the remainder of the line down to the stake....
