Save the bucket and use the lid.:D
First hang! Finally got out on the AT to try out a lot of new gear. Temps got down to the low 40's with constant wind and my diy UQ worked great. Stayed warm all night in my Cabelas 3d bag but this...
WV, if I were building a dedicated gear shop and wanted to hang hammocks, what better way than between two trees. Log cabins use trunks for supports inside and out and if you don't have access to cut...
Glad I don't have to post here till next year!:confused::scared:
Maybe take both ends through the bead then back around the bead, through the cord then bury.
One word "Shug"!
Would a large bead be better than a large stopper knot?
Sounds like another April Fools prank. HaHaHa...
That's puuurdy!
Howdy neighbor, my backpacking buddies think I'm crazy, they've got a lot to learn!
How many college kids can you get in the worlds largest hammock?
Great to see you getting your kids involved with the outdoors!
Nice pics! Mt Leconte's been on my list for a while, may try it this summer when the snow's gone.
Good job on the tarp and hammock, like the way the doors close. And its nice and roomy.
Sorry to hear that, it couldn't have been a critter could it? Coons will trash a place if they cant get back out.
Nice tarp Knotty, how hard was it to roll the grosgrain in the seams?
Keep an eye out for group buys they can save you a bundle.
I've only got about $100.00 in materials. Not sure about the time, I only spent a couple hours a week after work and longer on saturday so probably less than 20 hrs. A lot of those hours were spent...
I did hear from Brian this morning and I'm still waiting to hear back on a shipping date before I order. I know how hectic college life is, been there done that, and I hope no one thinks I was trying...
Hate to settle for something I really don't want but times running short so might have to.
Did you place an order anyway?
Has anyone been in touch with OES lately? I have emailed several times about ordering a MacCat but have gotten no response. Need a tarp in 2 wks, afraid to order when I can't get a response.
Planning on an overnighter on the AT on Good Friday so that will be my first time to try it out.
Thanks for all your hard fun, er work! But we want more, we want more, we want more.... :crying:crying:crying
That white stuff you sell is addictive! I will have to make a down TQ before next winter.
I used nanoseeum from thru hiker for the baffles.
Thanks for all the comments, all you guys on the forum make it easy with all your knowledge and support!:D
None, this was my first except for alcohol stoves.
Just when you think you've seen it all...
Haven't got to try it out yet, I ordered wrong size cord locks for the shock cord so I can't cinch it up tight yet.
Tightened the tension and lengthened the stitching and this helped a lot except where the material was the thickest.
Just finished my first UQ. It's 42" x 60" x 3" with 10 oz of 900+ down from stormcrow. This is my first diy major piece of gear. When stuffing the down I dropped the bags in the channels with the...
I wasn't aware that the stitch on top was from the bobbin (new to thread injectin) so sounds like I need to increase the tension to tighten the bottom stitches?
Already did the re-thread and new...
Almost finished with my first UQ and everything was going fine until I started adding the grosgrain channels for the shockcord. Now the bottom stitch is full of loops. I've tried to adjust the...
Sector 13 covered! ;)
Southmark, I live about 30 min from the AT, we are expecting mid 20's tonight in the valley and its usually 10 deg colder up there. There was about 2 ft of snow earlier this week. I don't think I...
It is a mighty fine piece of gear.
And yessir ... my Martin d-16. Name is "Rusty" because my guitar playing is always rusty![/quote]
I've had my D18 since I was a freshman in high school. That...
Good job Shug! That bugnet is just what my Doublenest needs. BTW was that a Martin you wuz a pickin on?
Whoa that was fast, didn't even get me popcorn popped. Think I'll just sit here till #4 is here!:thumbup1:
Love those vids Shug, but what took so long, my popcorn got cold! HaHa. Can't wait for #3!!
That's all I got with mine was the one sewed on.
Got the popcorn poppin' for Act II. Love that vest with sleeves, is that a DIY'er.
Shug, that must have been some nap ifn ya had to go sit in the snow!
Check out the ENO Doublenest, it is made for two people with a weight limit of 400 lbs. Lots of room for just one person. You would have to get the bug net separate if you wanted one.
I've been looking at something similar except using old guitar strings for the snare. I've been using folded guitar strings by themselves, haven't found any brass tubing yet.
Aaaahh! This really makes sense now, I've been looking at different designs for 2 weeks and I knew I had to allow for compressing side to side but hadn't thought about compressing lengthwise. My...
I am making rectangular UQ for my ENO and planning on 3.5 to 4 in baffles. Instead of sewing the top and bottom directly together I am making side panels the same height as the baffles. Should the...
Just checked out their site out of curiosity, looks like about 90% of the site is out of stock. Seems strange.
Has anyone put super glue on the beginning and end of the stitch to lock it?
Sorry to hear it's not down proof. Making a down UQ so I'll have to pass.
You also don't need high resolution for the web, 72 dpi is plenty.
