I'm flexible as far as mileage goes.
Looking for a fellow hanger or two or three or whatever for a couple nights in the woods in October. I'm open to Pisgah (Pisgah Ranger District) or Foothills trail. Wanting low key, and no children...
Cedar Rock is a great little side hike.

I don't even have to mow it.
We can just call Pisgah my back yard and call it a party in my back yard instead.
This is just over the ridge from my house. I need to try to make it this year. Probably ~10 mile hike from my back door. Hmmmmm.......
Yeah. Seems plenty strong to me. I've only hung on it a few times at this point, though. I don't recall coming across any posts stating they failed on anyone, and people have been using them for...
Nice Video! Looks like a great Valentine's Day with your daughter.
I actually did that by running my whoopies through the biners on the end caps and meeting in the middle, but the hammock was getting a little higher than I prefer. So I guess I have the options of...
Every time either I, or my better half, gets a bad cold, I end up going to the futon so I can sleep or not disturb her. The futon is a brick, and way too short for me. Well no more! Thanks to this...
The Shining Rock Wilderness is where I first fell in love with this area, and why I eventually moved to Brevard. Nice video.
Yeah. The wind blew that part of the tarp in against the foot of my hammock. Got pretty wet.
Mine leaked in a rainstorm at the pullouts not in porch mode.
Looks like fun. I think I drank a beer or two next to a few of you at the Hub before or after this trip.
Nice report. Twin Falls are off of Buckhorn Gap Trail. If you take Avery Creek Trail to hit Buckhorn Gap Trail from FS Rd 477, you can see Avery Creek Falls as well. BTW, I'm one of those crazy...
So I was able to test the TQ out this past Saturday. I volunteered to man a checkpoint for a mountain bike race called the Pisgah Mountain Bike Adventure Race (PMBAR). I would normally be racing in...
Thank you. I've now made my hammock, an IX UQ, and now this, and I'm the most proud of this TQ, although I love them all. DIY is the way to go. Totally excited to hang this weekend.
Also, I ran...
Thanks for the compliments.
CatSplat, the document I'm referring to is a collection of calculation spreadsheets that's on Google Drive. I think I saw the link for it in Te-Wa's instructions...
When I sewed my baffles in, I left them short 1.5" on each side, to leave room for a rolled hem, and calculated the width of my raw materials accordingly. I wanted a wide hem in order to sew...
I just went through this with my top quilt. I stopped caring and started sewing after about 15 minutes of thinking I had the shiny side figured out, and then changing my mind.
Thanks. Bungee cord at the bottom, omni-tape, and then gutted paracord to tie off the top. Should work pretty well I think.
Thanks. The fabric is just 1.1oz ripstop. I did 2" baffles, so the loft should be at least 2.5". I'd say it'd be good down to 25-30*. I haven't weighed it, but it's a heckuva lot lighter than the NF...
It was a rainy day and I couldn't go mountain biking, so I made a quilt, which I've been meaning to do for a while now. I followed Te-Wa's instructions, and used the DIY Quilt Calculator on Google...
DB is a great shop. There's a decent fabric shop right there, too.
You took the difficult route up to the top of Cedar Rock. Nice job! That 7-way intersection at the top of Butter is definitely confusing.
One of my favorite local areas for mountain biking. Glad you enjoyed it. Lots of great spots along that river, especially if you go a little further, and cross the river without bridges a few times.
Another WNC'er here in Brevard. Welcome.
Think you'd have to carry me, too. If so, I'm in!
If I wasn't getting ACL surgery a month before, I'd be in. Maybe the 4th annual.
Rick
I'm in! Very generous of you.
Nice! That's a great little loop. Did you all camp along 1206 somewhere?
I've had this GPS for a couple of years and have used it 3-4 times. I've found I prefer a map and compass, and the possibility of being lost. It was $250 when I bought it. It's practically new,...
One last bump before ebay.
Still available.
Bump. Good deal on some great boots.

I ordered a BMJ and door kit in the beginning of August and just received my shipping notice.
Same here. I feel like I'm on a family road trip and my parents keep telling me we'll be there in five more minutes. It's great that he's expanding, but he needs to provide ETA's that are somewhat...
Love me some Mumford and Sons. Nice video.
I just made an IX UQ, and only had a layer of ripstop on the bottom, and not where it is against the hammock. I think this is pretty common. For a TQ, however, I would cover the IX with some...
I sent a follow-up email to Brandon, and he replied last night. He said he was cutting material today and tomorrow, and then sending to his sewer. My order from the beginning of August will...
I made my hammock as a parallelogram. I didn't actually measure my ridgeline before installing it. I just made it adjustable, and the length I found most comfortable just happened to end up being...
Great photos. I need to make it up that way for some hiking and biking soon.
Brucie, I'm a mountain biker, too. Only the lower portion would be good for riding. The rest would just be a bunch of hike-a-bike. This trail is only open to hikers, though. It's too popular and...
My better half and I headed into the forest for a hike to another one of "the Rocks" here in the Pisgah Ranger District. We've avoided this one because the parking area is typically always full, and...
I use a Dutch Ridgeline Biner on mine.

Same boat. Ordered a BMJ tarp and door kit at the beginning of August. The tarp was in stock at the time, but not the doors. Now none of it is.
Congrats on the contest win. You really do epitomize our niche.
