I ordered two on 8/20, still waiting for the shipping notification.
Looks about like what I want, thanks Tendertoe!
Hi Everyone,
I've got a hammock gear cuben fiber tent with doors I use while hammocking, but I got to thinking about using it as a shelter when I need to go to the ground as well. It's such a...
Ordered a Cuben 4 season tarp, I hope it gets here soon! This'll cut ~11 oz from my pack and add doors to my setup, win win (other than my also lighter wallet).
A couple more panoramas:

Depending on timing, I think I can make this, and I've got my tigoat box stove and modded superfly for a warming tent.
My wife and I hammock camp together.
We've found it's pretty much impossible for 2 to sleep together in 1 hammock.
My WBBB (warbonnet blackbird) 1.1 (fabric weight) DL (double layer) is...
Ordered a couple of M90 snoring cubs, been thinking about these for awhile and a sale with nicer fabric was the push over the top :)
Another PM on the snow peak, I'm interested if the other deals fall through
This is the number one thing I would emphasize to people who are new to Oregon but like the outdoors. Just because it's 70 degrees and sunny in the valley when you take off, don't pack for that...
I am loving my sport kilt, the feel of the breeze after a hard climb is heavenly!
Now back on topic. The wife and I are going to be camping at hosmer lake July 24th-29th, but if the group hang...
I find it takes me about a 3rd of the time to set up with my dutch hook/tarp flyz than it does tying knots, not to mention its much easier to undo without having to try to take out knots that may...
I'm interested in the sporran, wonder if I could come check it out?
thumbs up on the gravity filter, pumping sucks! might pay a slight weight penalty, but well worth it imo.
Not sure why, but I also find I have to pee more when sleeping in the hammock than in a bed.
I have a theory: The gentle swaying of the hammock causes urine already in the bladder to slosh around...
And that right there is a new profile pic, great shot of the boiler :)
I was surprised there wasn't a thread for this one yet, so figured I'd start one.
It was really great to meet you all, and check out some new setups. The raffle was lots of fun, enough prizes for...
I wouldn't consider the included bag a storage bag, it compresses the down too far to want to store it long term in that bag. It's more of a stuff sack.
I slept in my 3s burrow/incubator setup at 14 degrees this winter with no issues. I was also using a winter tarp pitched low to avoid drafts, so I think that helped.
I wouldve taken some pics, but I forgot to put the memory card back in my camera, so i lugged down a chunk of useless electronics :P
Im looking forward to seeing Rip and Kayts videos
The climb out was definitely harder than the hike down, even after burning the wood I brought and eating all my food. Next time the ~8 lbs of steel doesn't come along in the pack, that's for sure
I do a mean Carl impression, but I don't have Shug's vaudevillian streak.
You might be able to use something like this: http://www.sierratradingpost.com/p/325,2756C_Bison-Designs-Combination-Lock-Carabiner-Large.html
Though I wouldn't hang your weight off of it, I'd use...
Im interested in this knife, sending PM
I'm also 28, looks like Rip and I are tied for youngest so far :)
If the holes people have seen are truly due to the tautness of the pitch, I wonder if some guyline tensioners would help to prevent these types of issues? I know the ones I use on my sil tarps allow...
I am a coffee drinker. I was contimplating bringing my Moka pot, but if you're bringing a french press no need. I'll bring some coffee :)
By the way, my wife may be coming with me, I haven't...
ok im definitely in, im going to try to make it out friday, but will definitely be out saturday. hopefully my new aarn pack gets in by then ao i can carry more cool toys to show off :)
Absolutely reasonable.
My total setup, which again, was built for comfort and not weight savings, weighs a total of 5 lbs, which includes insulation as well as hammock, tarp and suspension....
I went through the same thing as you, a few months back.
I came to the conclusion I've pretty much got the ultimate setup for comfort. Notice I don't say ultralight.
Hammock: Warbonnet...
Just wanted to confirm, this is going to be at Drift creek wilderness from Harris Ranch trailhead on June 4th, 5th and 6th right? Just trying to figure out if I'll be able to make this.
That is some beautiful country, looks like it'd be tough to move through if you didn't have a trail though. Thanks for bringing us along.
Looks like you've settled right in. Welcome to the neighborhood!
Inconsistency in rules is really obnoxious, though I suppose it's better to be inconsistent than hardline on a pointless rule, unless they tell you one thing and then enforce it a different way.
I...
If anyone purchased one of these and no longer needs it, I'm looking for one for my winter setup. Thanks!
I'd like a set of these when you start manufacturing, looks like a great replacement for figure 9s
Beautiful spot, I am jealous.
Plenty of spots, and a wide variety of terrain, I'm not sure about legality of sleeping back away from the campgrounds, but I'd sure like to go camp if its allowed.
It's been raining pretty constantly for the last few weeks, so Heather and I decided to check out some waterfalls at high flow. Beautiful spot, great hike, fun time. Took a couple of videos of the...
I really don't get out into those trails enough. There are literally hundreds of miles of trail within 5 miles of Corvallis in that area. Also recommended is the Mary's Peak wilderness area, lots of...
It's been raining like crazy recently, which creates some pretty fantastic green moss displays. Heather (the wife) and I went for a nice dayhike around the "Extendo" loop 5.5 miles with about 700...
Their anger is proportional to the size of the holes in their ears....
multi day rain events of biblical proportions affect about half my camping trips it seems :)
Yeah, the bic is 3".
The 3s version seems to be about 3.5" of loft, the winter looks like about 5".
Just got a new winter set of quilts. Jenny was kind enough to upgrade me for free as another customer had recently changed/cancelled their winter order, so I got upgraded from a 3s set to a winter...
My living room should now be called the hammock room!
Thanks to you all I believe I have put together the ultimate in comfortable, reasonably light weight hammock camping!Took me about 5 months and...
I'm really curious about this setup. When it rains, does the canvas shed the water or does it get heavy and soggy?
I always check the spot I'm parking for broken safety glass. If there are glass shards all over the place, I don't park there. It seems most break ins are from habitual offenders that troll the same...
Plenty of dispersed camping sites ring the shoreline, although I've only ever accessed them by boat several are right off the trail that rings the lake.
