    ^^This^^
Except for the last part. I spent some time there in the 70's. I couldn't wait to get out of there. :D
It is a beautiful place and I wouldn't mind going back, NOW.
    Have a wonderful trip!...

Re: LNT Recommends 2-4-inch Webbing Straps

Yes, I agree! I'm in no way promoting callous use of our forests. Heaven knows I've cleaned enough trash left by knuckelheads to fill a dumpster, pulled nails left in trees, and cut down wire and...

This is one of the places I go. These trees will be harvested in about 5 more years. Harvested means clear cut! This area will be razed and...

Re: LNT Recommends 2-4-inch Webbing Straps

Thank you for your work on this!
It's somewhat comforting to know there is some input from people that actually do use hammocks, not just an arbitrary ruling handed down from on high.

Re: LNT Recommends 2-4-inch Webbing Straps

I VERY seldom hang in areas with a lot of traffic (campgrounds). I'm usually found in the National Forests or private land and never for more than three days. If I shorten a trees life by a few...

Poll: Re: The Hazards Of Beds!

Thinking of converting... just have to start the process, which means cleaning (organizing) all the crap I have stashed under the bed.

    Re: Permethrin fail

Same here. DEET on skin for mosquitoes, permethrin on clothes for ticks.
Some of these Gulf Coast mosquitoes, though, think DEET is a condiment.

ETA: Permethrin works on Chiggers, too.

Thanks for the links Shug. Been searching for that very info, but my Google Fu has been weak.

Re: I'm new and I made a hammock.

Where I'm from, anything laying on the ground is food for the fire ants. Of course, around here, the skeeters gonna eat you wherever you are.

Anxiously awaiting delivery of my first order, also.

The first of many, I'm sure.

    Re: New guy from Texas.

Thanks for the invite! I probably won't get to make it out before January because of work and family schedules. After that, though... :D

    New guy from Texas.

    Howdy all!
Kinda new to the hammock thing. I don't get to the woods too often, but recently started hanging when I do.
Don't think I'll ever sleep on the ground, again.
