Welcome neighbor. This forum is a great place to learn all you ever wanted to know about hammock camping.
Thanks for the sub!
Sang the song, but decided not to cause ear damage to everyone by posting it on YouTube. :-)
Thanks guys. The music was from Casting Crowns "Tribute to Bluegrass"
Filmed on the road leading into to Elkmont Campground in the Smokies.
We hiked in from Cades Cove to CS10. Next day we hiked to Spence Field shelter and then to Rocky Top. Hiked back to CS10 for night number 2 and then out the next day.
We entered the smokies,...
Thanks for the time and effort you and Poof put into these videos. I'm in awe. Definitely got to see Yosemite one day. Your time lapse sections of the videos are awesome.
Beautiful section of the AT. I'm really enjoy your time lapse shots.
Thanks for taking us along.
Thanks for the shout out. The one bag system looks very efficient. Great to see you and Poof back on the trail.

Darn. We saw some ground dwellers leaving a tent there we think. They were hiking out as we were leaving. When I asked about the tent, one guy said they were all just going on a day hike. ...
I camped at CS26 during the fall its a very nice site. Ended up hanging just down the hill to the left of the big logs around the fire ring. The Smokies are a great place to hike and hang
That's some great stuff. Thanks for sharing.
That's beautiful!
I've had up to six. My WBBB is the only one I didn't make myself.
Yes, I've thought of that. I can actually hook back to the prussic loop very easily.
Thanks for the suggestion.
Here's another way to use Dutch Hooks on your continuous ridge line.
Edit: At 1:29 I meant to say, "tighten down the tarp" not hammock.

Good to see a new trip report. I was wondering when we'd see another. Thanks for the great pictures and narrative. Makes me want to head out soon.
I highly recommend this loop to anyone wanting to see the tower. Just be ready for a long, steep, rocky downhill on the way out. Baxter Creek trail is beautiful, but I don't think there was one spot...
I recently hiked to Mt. Sterling in the Smokies. We hiked into CS 36 on Big Creek on Saturday, then on to CS 38 at Mt. Sterling on Sunday via the Swallow Fork and Mt. Sterling Ridge trails. Hiked...
JCP has their puffer down jackts on sale for $45. 650 fp down. I've purshase two. 12 oz total. Very warm. You can't beat the price and value.
Part 2, Part 2!!! Thanks for taking us along.
We left our truck at Elkmont and paid a fellow $45 each to drop us off at Clingmans Dome. I found his shuttle service info on Whiteblaze.
Welcome. There's several bham locals on here.
It's a great route. Only about 18 miles and mostly all down hill. Allows you to keep you head up and enjoy the scenery rather than up hill head down death march. We used a shuttle, $45 per person. ...
A friend and I did a short hike through the Smokies a couple weeks ago. We started at Clingmans Dome, hiked to Siler's Bald night one, then to CS 26 on the Miry Ridge Trail for night two. Ended up...
Hammocks and unicycles? I thought I was just watching clips of Sling Blade this whole time.......
Was your cousin kidnapped by the old man? That dude was creepy......
Good stuff Medicineman. The music was very fitting. Loved seeing the elk. I was below there few weeks ago on Big Creek, beautiful area.
Thanks for the video.
Glorious, Thank you for sharing!
I wondered where you've been. I've gotten used to seeing your weekend trip reports each week. Can't wait to see your latest!
Great report. Hiked that area a couple years ago. Thanks for posting.
Good stuff. Have you guys been to Sand Rock overlooking the lake? It's also called Cherokee Indian Rock Village.
New in box, never carried, has only cut paper. This thing is razor sharp! Posted a while back. Posting again with a lower price. $80.00. CONUS shipping.

The Sipsey is an awesome place to hang. Bankheadboy and Moderater Angrysparrow are great sources of info on the Sipsey.
Bump for price drop
Edit: I've rec'd a couple pm's about this knife listed on Amazon for a lower price. The Amazon price reflects a lower grade steel in the ones they're offering. This knife has 154cm which is a...
Wow! Looks like fun. Thanks for sharing.

Elkmont is a neat place, especially with all the old abandoned houses.
Nice pic!
If I recall correctly, CS 74 is a very large flat site. The river there is open and you can cast easily without the worry of overhanging trees. There is also the large remains of an old ccc camp...
If memory serves me correct, there's an alternative site between 57 and 58 thanes tucked away near the creek. We ran into some guys that fish there every year for 2-3 days and they had the most...
I sent him a message on Youtube with the link to diy instructions for an IX UQ.
It could be that he just doesn't know yet. He has mentioned he's holding off on an UQ until CUBEN can be used,...

Great video. Thanks for sharing!
Great job. Where'd you buy the webbing for the sides?
Welcome aboard and good luck with you business. Check out the suspension options discussed on the forum, especially the "straps" everyone uses to attach their hammocks to the tree. Straps versus...
