ahh, you are right, I guess I'd only need a couple feet. For some reason I was thinking I would need a lot more.

Is there and advantage to gutting vs using in-tact? Sounds like it bit of extra work?

I forgot to mention, I'm lazy, would 3 or 4mm perlon also work?

gutted paracord? Meaning you just use the sheath and remove the inner white core?

For whipping the ends is this sufficent?
