Mistakes will happen, but having a sweet site and some good food can help you forget those mistakes when you look back on a trip and want to make you get out again real soon.
I would say for a first time the section from Crosby Manitou to Section 13 or Tettegouche would be a nice intro. When I started backpacking the most important thing to me was a great campsite...
I have the same quilt as White Walker. It is 3 season and I believe Arrowhead rates the 3 season down to 25.
I have a HH Explorer Asym Zip with a Potomac UQ and the larger hex rain fly. PM me if you are looking for more than just the basic hammock.
The stretch between Little Todd and N Desor is bruuuuuutal. I'm tired just watching you do that section.
My cousin broke his leg on that section a few years ago.
Just sent you a PM.
I have a HH Explorer Asym Zip with a Potomac UQ and the larger hex rain fly. I'm 6'0 215 and have room to move. Weight limit is 300.

I was able to check weather reports and send text with Verizon at the latrine at the Sec. 13 campsite. This is the only campsite I've been able to check or send a text.
I did the Minong Ridge Trail about two years ago and didn't have a problem with Mosquitoes or Black Flies. The campsites of Todd Harbor and Little Todd (favorite campsite in the park) are right on...
Have fun! I'm doing the same section later on next week.
I'm out just got a last minute visit from family this weekend.
I was thinking of a small trip around the same time. I might be able to go up after work on the Friday the 19th or that Saturday morning and come back on Sunday afternoon.
Mid August-Late September is a great time to do a trip. With the late spring this year the water situation should be better. I wouldn't count on small creeks or ponds that usually dry up for water....
I was unable to get off time from work. Hope you all have a great time this weekend.
Sorry misread your post thought you were ditching work early. I should be able to take the full day off if that is what the trip plan calls for.
I'm fine with that... PM me the details and I will check to see how much time I would need to get off work. I'm coming from Minneapolis so I am open to the option of a car pool.
If going south...
....Oops meant to say Cascade River, not Caribou.
I can try to make it as well. I am am also new to hammock camping and would love to learn from others. I also NEED to stretch my legs after the winter if all the snow is gone. Haven't spent much time...
Thanks for the calculator and the video...I will check out using the new setup as it looks really strong and secure.
Thanks for the video and link to the post! I saw the Hennessy video yesterday in a rush to watch and set up. I've read the post and watched the video again today to get better knowledge of how to set...
I just purchased a Hennessy Hammock Explorer Deluxe Asym Zip this weekend and tried setting it up in my backyard. The first problem I have is how high on the tree I should place the straps and how...
Thanks for the suggestions. I'm going to try it out in the backyard this weekend and see how it goes and what I may need next.
Thanks for the help....I bought my sleeping bag last year and only used it about 5 times, it is a synthetic....another question I had is what do you do with your gear during the night?
I just purchased my first hammock (Hennessy Hammock Explorer Deluxe Asym Zip)...I have a chepo Coleman sleeping pad and a 20 degree sleeping bag. Any adivce for what my next gear should be? I plan to...
