Captn is planning on attending
Mike ... Thank you so much for all you do for all of us .... I can't believe how this event has grown! Awesome people, awesome food, and great companionship .... Even with everything else going on,...
If anyone finds a million dollars, I'm sure it was mine ....
It was awesome!
Captn and boys are still planning on attending .....
You can skimp in a lot of areas, but don't skimp on insulation .... A cold night lasts a week when your shivering and waiting for the sun.
I've done a few sections using a GT ultralight and a poncho ... Even rode out some big rain and stayed dry. With that said, however, I'd opt for a bit more room in the hammock and a larger tarp from...
Another EPIC tree hang inning event! Thanks everyone for an awesome time
Captn and two will be there Saturday. I paid for a site for tonight, so I hope someone makes use of it. I just got off a plane so I can't make it before noonish or so ... I will be bringing Pam's...
I disagree wholeheartedly.
I'm taking my three boys on a AT section hike next spring ..... And I'm making much of their gear ....
The youngest is 6'6", the oldest is 6'3 .... You get the idea...
I slept out in a monsoon overnight in a poncho tarp over a 9.5 foot net less HH clone .... A bit of spray, but nothing to get excited about. Pitch it low for storms ...
The tarp ridge line ..... If you keep the tarp attached to the hammock, have you noticed how it sags when you get in? The ridgeline keeps the tarp in one place in spite of its tendency to sag.
We reserved our site
I just returned from a section hike along the AT in Maryland ....
Bugs weren't bad at all so I left the bugnet in the pack. The better half had bought me a el officio bug away bandana before the...

I sewed two layers of cllimahield to the bottom edge of the IX such that the footbox is only climashield and 1.1 ounce nylon. Two layers of IX in the rest of the quilt .....

Hitting the ground when dead asleep is NOT fun ..... Choose your toggles wisely

I should be so lucky!
I've read that vagisil works wonders at preventing monkey tail
I was day hiking on the lone star hiking trail, doing the Four notch loop in preparation for a big trip coming up. I was about 4 miles into a 10 mile hike when this sudden feeling of being watched...

It has been a while, but we are still here. Alive and kicking ... Looking forward to the next hang.
Meanwhile, a small gift for you all:
The wind that bends the bough above,
As the specter of...
I've switched from whoopies on my HLBA to a simpler system, IMO. I've got three foot pieces of amsteel larks headed to the hammock with fixed loops in both ends of the amsteel. I carry 8 ft, 1 inch...
I can empathize my friend, I had the same issue myself. I have a HH ultalight backpacker and that tarp was wayyyyy to low for some reason, although it is the same size as my expedition, the bug net...
Old Gringo is good, Old Grigo is wise ........ You must do as Old Gringo says .. Buy all, swap excess at hangs.
Thanks ... I'll keep the lash-it ridge.
I fly over July 13th and plan on lolly gagging the trail all week
Well, it's been a while fellow hangers, and I must say, my life has been awash with change for quite a while now. Looks like we've got our health issues behind us for the moment, new job at work...
Wish I was there too ... Ended up working all weekend with one of my customer's plants going down at midnight
Looks like we are going to make it ..... I'll make reservations tomorrow for the steel tarp ....
What are we coming up short on?
What a crazy year folks .... Looking forward to unwinding with...
Sweet ride!
Crazy year so far ... But put two down for the Captn and Mate!
There is certainly no silver bullet .... Just strategies for dealing with a SHTF moment ...
Not sure if my stars will line up yet ......... More info to come
I made a synthetic quilt once upon a time that was two layers from the bellybutton down, one layer up to the shoulders .... Worn with a hooded parka it was quite a good system ... Wore it out over...
Works for us
It's time to start planning the spring fling ...... Or the annual east Texas hang part two, the revenge of the trees ....
Venue suggestions anyone? And how about the end of February for a time...
Had a great time! Food, friends, and hanging in the trees...... What could be more awesome
I will be, sadly, solo this year ... And I'll be on the road within the hour. See you'all soon!
