If you are going to use a sleeping bag as intended, I found it's easier to climb into it while standing outside the hammock, then sit & twist into the hammock. Weird but effective.

Same here but I currently use a couple of gripclips to pull the sides tot he side tie-outs. Plan to sew a couple of grosgrain ribbons so I can just tie it to the side pullouts

Try tying a bowline to the d-ring. I use mini line-locs for the stake end but you could use a taut line hitch as well
