I agree with others about it being a really hard question, given everyone sleeps differently. I'm a very warm sleeper and have found that when the temps are going into the 20s I can still sleep...

If it's any help, I car camp with my NX-250, and I've had it down to the upper 30s with just a 30° TQ and a UQP (UnderQuilt Protector). I honestly didn't now it had gotten cold until I got up in the...
Pack is sold! Mods, you can move the thread.
Precious, not at all! I'm a 44/45 depending on whether and how much I've just eaten. (like I said, it will fit, but it's very tight and uncomfortable if I have to bend over)
The Mamajamba tarp is SOLD!
The Osprey Talon 33 is still available.
MJ is sold to Squirr! Sorry woodk9, but he claimed it first. :)
Ted, the tarp is gone, but the pack is available.
Bump. No-one wants/needs a Mamajamba?
If and only IF I bring my MP3 with me, I'll listen to Tangerine Dream, Kitaro, Anasazi flute, something along those lines. Soothing stuff to close out the evening to, before putting in the earplugs....
How long are your straps? The hammock is just over 8.5 feet long, so with 6' whoopies you'd need at least 6' straps as well. But the 6' whoopies should be OK if you've got 10' straps.
For sale one Osprey Talon 33. This is brand new and never used. I'm too fat for the waist belt. It will fit around me, but it's at the end of adjustability and is a bit uncomfortable. $90 shipped to...
That's the site I sent Rat a PM about reserving. Of course if he's saving it for Jeff, we'd take 30. (provided that also hasn't been taken.) And we are definitely willing to share.
ME. before, during and after the Butt Bake.

This is one of the best weekends out of doors that I've ever had. :boggle:
We're in! updated the Spd. Sht. PMing Old Gringo. Rat: I'd like to request spot 29 if we can get it please.
OK, so I'm at PL 8, and my mapping isn't working. Any suggestions on how to get from here to the lake via truck?
Sarge, and everyone, there a banner on the walker county courthouse saying there's a burn ban in effect. Looks like no campfire for us.
Ok...I'm here @ PL 8 & finally got all setup & my butt is officially baking. :) gcspcs ain't here yet, but PM'd me his cell so I may call him shortly to make sure he's OK. So, in the immortal words...
To be sure for anyone checking the thread before leaving tomorrow. I'm about to de-camp here at my trailer. I'll be leaving DFW around 1PM today. I'll definitely be bringing a setup 9x9' canopy,...
Mike - Myself and Patrick (gmcpcs) will there tonight and will go open the gates to the lake tomorrow morning.
haven't checked in in a while 'cause life has kept me busier'n'a one armed paper hanger. So....I"m coming down Wednesday and should be there in time to get setup at the parking lot. I will have with...
I've got this: http://www.dutchwaregear.com/hangle.html seems to work OK. May have to give this a try though as it would be easier to find. :)
I think ObiJohn meant social life period. Unless the OP likes hanging out in pubs and other public places just to interact with friends. Living the way he proposes would mean you'd never be able to...
So I've got a couple of questions for you. First, how do you intend to save money by buying fruits and veggies and nuts and such every day @ least twice a day? Two: how do you save money by paying...
Our summer time over night temps down here don't get that low (mid-70s) very often, so I generally only have a sheet under me to protect the hammock. As others have said, a 20° UQ is way overkill....
I've switched to Dutch's Cinch Bugs, but used to use a very light weight 'biner by Edelrid, but when one broke dumping my girl on the ground, I switched to Camp nanos, although I have used the...
All good advice here as far as bears go, but your food is far less likely to be taken by a bear than a raccoon, mouse, squirrel, skunk, or other critter. Here in Texas we have to worry about coyotes...
I've got a pack hanger from Dutch. http://www.dutchwaregear.com/big-carl-pack-hanger.html 6' of ZingIt with a Dutch hook inside a locked brummel. run it around the tree ( or through a Dutch clip)...
Ridge_Dog...the number one pick was the Warbonnet Blackbird. Gotta agree with the OP on this, and also with the fact that Outdoor Gear Review usually does good reviews on equipment. But, I'd...
I did, but now I have snakeskins. Haven't actually used them yet, but have seen enough folks who do to know it'll be a better setup
USAF '74 - '80; DC Air NG '82 - '96 Retired.
Stevebo...just caught this thread and thought I'd responded. I'm 6'1" and ~265 and I've got a NX250. I'm very comfortable in it. I use i as my camping hammock (tad to heavy for backpacking), and have...
Welcome from the Big D! My former sis-in-law lived in Pflugerville, and I originally was in San Marcos so no exactly where you're at.
I have several tarps, but another one you can check out is the 4 season from OES (http://www.outdoorequipmentsupplier.com/4_season_tarps.php). same size as Superfly, doors on both ends, about 20oz.
If markr6 doesn't have the Danner's, I've got a pair of WP Converse 8" side zip tactical boots which work great for hiking in. I haven't used this pair for anything as I have a desert version. But,...
So, just updated the spreadsheet and said we'll bring dessert. Any suggestions for that? We were thinking cookies/cake/sweetness, but I'm also leaning towards a couple of small watermelons. Whaddya...
I'm bringing tackle and at least one spin rod and one fly rod. don't laugh at my chest/vest rig. I repurposed some old MOLLE gear into afly vest and a chest rig. :)
Payment sent per PM. :)
OK...I'll take the Osprey pack. Just need Paypal info.
does the Atmos have a place for a hydration bladder? I'm VERY tempted as I need a new fishing pack.
OK, I'm in, however can't say exactly when I'll be there, but it will be on Friday. Probably hike to Niederhofer, but might just stay @ PKG Lot 8 for Saturday night, and am willing to offer up...
that's where we got ours. It was either there or the bay front sites and I thought that'd be too far from everyone else.
WAIT! Y'all are getting a HEB in SE Houston?!?! I officially hate Houston now. :scared:  :cursing: :sneaky: I pine for an HEB ANYWHERE in the Dallas area. As for the "math" thing, I forgot...
I read this thread early enough in the morning that all this math gave me a headache. :tonguesmilie:
You're right about the Hex rainfly. As for the others, from Hennessey website regarding the Monsoon and Typhoon "Rainfly Dimensions: Asymmetric Hexagon - 120" (304 cm) Long(Ridgeline)" x ~80" (203...
I'm +1 with others. Whether you pick Warbonnet, Outdoor Equipment Suppliers (OES), Outdoor Wilderness Logics (OWL), Underground Quilts (UGQ), Hennessey, Simply Light Designs, or Arrowhead Equipment...
Yes they're quality tarps. Just less expensive cause they're all asym tarps. And they're mostly designed for Hennessy hammocks, though will work for other hammocks as well. Where are you finding them...
Do you still need hiking poles? I've got a pair of Black Diamonds, or a pair of Swiss Army brand poles. I'd sell either pair for $25 + shipping.
Man! Dutch...you suck (at least in this thread :) ) I've got 2 biners I'm not using and would gladly have traded them.
You sir are in luck. I ca let you have my ENO bugnet for $30. I've had it for a couple of years now and it's in great shape and only been used about 3 times.
I'm interested, but what size Ti pot are you looking for?
