I did put a taper in. I'm not sure how to make the bury loose. The small 1/2" that I was able to get through is hard as a rock and the section immediately following is narrower.

Ok it sounds like I should plan for a strap + extension total length between 12' to 15'. I also plan on using a whoopie sling, so I could use part of that as an extension if needed.
