Thanks everyone! I'll go with the 11' what would you recommend on width? I like to sleep fairly flat. I'm used to the WBBB.
I'm only 5'6", not sure if that matters. wanting to get a BIAS WWM but an 11 foot hammock just sounds long. planning on getting a zpacks cuben tarp and I currently have a HG incubator. I'm just...
I have a barley used (thrice) HH expedition with tarp, suspension, tree huggers, everything needed, I'll include snake skins as well. 130$ shipped anywhere in the CONUS.
I notice the most gain in coverage from the shallow cat cuts is at the end where the head and feet are
from the ridgeline tie out to the corner ground tie out. So the coverage at the head and feet...

I have both and I feel like the Tadpole feels more durable cause of the material. The edge is lighter, I like the ridgeline more on the edge. The cat cuts on the tadpole are more shallow so it has...
dropped 160$ also includes snake skins
I have a barely used (three times this summer) HH Expedition Zip with stock suspension, asym tarp, 60" tree huggers, and stuff sack, also an "all in one" suspension made for HH from whoopieslings.com...
how small are the fires you have under the tarp?
my "all in one" suspension came out weighing 6.3 oz for both webbing and whoopie slings.
I have the webbing suspension and chose it because it can be adjusted easier after setting it up. the rope suspension you tie knots. they go the webbing and rope suspension in there setup section...
I have an oes maccat deluxe and a tadpole and the tadpole packs smaller by quite a bit. the oes is slightly wider.
HH has a reflective pad that is wider at the shoulders.
I use a pillow case to store my down bags.
My friend uses a western mountaineering summer lite in a pea pod style.
Not bad I always thought of doing this instead of a uq
I love my wbbb and they are right the more you hang it you'll know how high to get the rl right.
What do you not like about it? I had calve pressure and adjusted the rl and that helped it. what makes it uncomfortable and fix that.
I wrap my lines around the bag for my hammock. Similar to what I do with my snake skins.
I've never had issues with anyone not wanting me to hammock. I have had a lot of ranger ask me questions about it.
Warbonnet would definitely be a good choice and fits all your needs.
It should fit fine to your shoulders. you don't really want your head under it cause of condensation.
I have the HG Phoenix 20 and love it. I went with it because of the width and length vs the warbonnet and that's really it.
I noticed that there wasn't condensation when the pad was in my TQ vs on the outside. I almost always had condensation when the pad was on the outside of the TQ under my feet.
as long as it doesn't compress the sleeping bag in the sleeve. you would probably be better on not putting in a sleeve and just hanging it.
you could go the a hammock kit from BIAS it will come with everything and you can customize what it will come with bugnet, suspension is whoopieslings you may not know what they are now but you will...
I have had water run down the crl when I had the tarp over the ridgeline. It wasn't bad it was a few drops it on my hammock and top quilt. switched the tarp to under the crl during the rain without...
ha ha great quote to use.
I just set everything on the ground under me on a piece of plastic. stay dry and critters haven't gotten into it. yet.
that's awesome. So are you going to replace her bed for a hammock?
Adjustable srl are cheap and easy to replace. you should just get one and see where you like the sag.
I like the jrb suspension because you can separate the suspension from the hammock. great choice.
I use the "all in one" from whoopieslings.com but the cinch buckle isn't bad you just have to separate the buckles. he does a video to show you on his site.
I like whoopieslings cause of how little time it takes to setup and how many things it will work with on attaching to your hammock (whoopie hooks, biner, descending ring)
the pullouts are to give you more room by pulling the sides away from your hammock, I love having side pull outs.
I like the crl for the ease of setup, to be able to slide it back and forth on the ridgeline.
I would like to get a grizzbeak for my hex tarp because I like the idea of having a little more ground room for a vestibule. the door's would be lighter but they take away ground room.
I didn't have to seam seal it and I never had issue's even in long medium rain.
I like the tadpole a lot it's my go to tarp in most weather.
Vinny, I believe he is talking about the hammock suspension not the tarp suspension. You are right that a CRL under the tarp will drip on you I learned that the hard way.
It's all in the suspension. Usually you'll have a break in the suspension like a carabiner, descending ring, cinch buckles. I use dutch biners and they work great. you can also do a drip string like...
So I just purchased the hammockgear.com incubator 20* no overfill. I have there phoenix and I love it.
I use a thinlight pad from Gossamergear.com cut down to fit inside my sewn footbox of my TQ. The pad scrunches up so much that it just gets uncomfortable, I also move my feet a lot and I end up...
I am looking at getting a full length UQ (Incubator mainly) I already have a phoenix but my feet get cold w/o a pad and with a pad it's too uncomfortable.
I was wondering if a full length UQ would...
I had the same issue until I tightened my UQ suspension by a lot more than I though I needed to and now I have no issues of it coming off my shoulders anymore.
I thought the temp rating came from the loft not the ounces of down in the quilt. I believe there is a really long thread that goes over this exact topic better.
I like the phoenix personally because it's longer and wider for only a few ounces more.
45x52 vs 40x46
I started because my friend accidentally bought a eno off amazon.com and I asked to borrow it. was the best night sleep I had backpacking so I got my own. Then it escalated quickly to eno single, eno...
Using the toggle to whoopie means you can separate the tree straps from the whoopies which helps with tree sap. I have the all in one from whoopieslings.com and love it.
I have whoopie slings on all my hammocks, ENO Doublenest, HH zip, warbonnet blackbird. I love whoopie slings, they are very easy to use.
