Thanks for posting ! What a beautiful area!
I had to add extra layers of clothing just to watch! Not my idea of fun,but I admire your sense of adventure! :)
Pizza I have that problem also! I've tried the V method but it doesn't work well especially if I have to put my hammock suspension higher up on the tree!
My hammock is 10ft and the CF tarp is...
I'm glad to hear that the rubbing won't cause enough abrasion to creat a problem.
I will try both off setting the straps and the going for less hang angle.
As for as a bigger tarp, I have my eye on...
I have a HG CF 4season tarp. When I need to put my tarp in "storm mode" the two suspension lines rub one another!
I've tried the "Y" method for my tarp but this doesn't work. Due to the relatively...
I hope to machine sew! My sewing machine is fairly light weight but hopefully it will do the job!
Will polyester unholstery thread work?
I want to make some tree straps. What is the best thread to use and the best way to sew them?
Thanks
Thanks TallPaul! Loved the globe! Does it come in an UL size?
I can't see the video! :(
I usually go with Nutella and cream cheese on white bread or white wheat!
Nutella and cream cheese on rye?? Might be interesting! :)
I haven't tried the peanut butter pop tarts ! They sound delicious!
My goto sandwich for lunch on my first day of hiking is Nutella and cream cheese! Very tasty!
Beautiful pictures! I don't think I would have been able to sleep if I had such an encounter with a bear! I have still yet to see one! I hope to one day but not as close up as your experience!

Thanks for posting! Loved the "over cooked" remark!
Thank you for sharing your trip! Beautiful scenery!
I switched from a CRL to two lines about a year ago. I don't winter camp in areas with snow so I can't speak to the advantage of a CRL in that scenario. I have hung on some nights with wind gusts of...
Thanks! I had run into problems before with the WS being too long at times! I had hopes these would be different!
I agree with you Dutch it doesn't seem to be worth the weight savings! Plus I just...
I just tried to hang using the UCR's that I made and I can't get them short enough to suspend my hammock! I didn't have this problem with the whoopies slings! The post ( no trees) are 15 ft apart! I...
Thanks! Good to know I won't have to remake t!
I just finished making my first UCR with Dynaglide. I measured 12" for the constrictor but when I finished the UCR the constrictor was only 10" in length. Is this normal? Will 10" be long enough or...
I use mesh skins and a bishop bag! I just slide the skins over the tarp, then sort of fold/ stuff it into the BB. I keep it on the outside of my pack were its easily accessible!
Thanks for posting this video! Beautiful country! I like that you choose the path less traveled!:)
When using my BMJ I would put block the end open to anyone camping nearby with by jacket, TQ or whatever was available!
With my HG CF tarp, even though it has doors, privacy is more difficult to...
I have the Darian UL which came with 4 ft tree straps, 6 ft whoopies, and Dutch ware! I traded out the 4ft straps for 5ft ones but still have problems with larger trees!
If I feed the whoopies...
What do you do I'd your trees straps aren't long enough to reach around the tree? Mine are 5 ft long and I ran into this problem more than once on my last trip. Luckily I was able to find some trees...
I recently did a 65 mile hike on the AT! (Georgia section completed)
On my second nite out I decided to hike about 10 miles to one of two possible camp sites listed on my trail guide! As the day...
What are "dog bones"?
The hammock I was using has a structural RL and no I don't believe I was hanging too tight. The angles were OK. I believe it maybe due to the "stretch" of the fabric. The only way I could get...
I just returned from a 65 mile hike on the AT. It was a great hike and I loved crawling into my hammock at the end of a long day of hiking!
Unfortunately for the first time I experienced shoulder...
I agree with most others on rescuing a dog from the shelter! I am the lucky owner of a 16 y/o Jack Russell. He is and has been a perfect companion!
Unfortunately he is "winding" down and age has...
Yesterday I tried every sort of hang angle to try to overcome this problem. While the ridge line is loose it is still in a fairly straight line.
I hadn't thought about the grip clips. I was...
When I add my UQ the problem is magnified tenfold!
I lay with my head to the left next to the zipper and my feet to the right. If I can get someone to help I will get a picture.
When I hang the hammock the ridge line is quite loose, but when I lay in...
No I'm laying on a diagonal. I've tried increasing the diagonal on which I lay to over come this but it doesn't help!
There's so much material that I've started putting my gloves ,hats or whatever I...
I'm having a problem keeping the bug netting out of my face. The sides of the hammock also falls over onto my legs! There seems to be too much material.
The ridge line is taut and at times the...
A couple of years ago I was hanging in a remote area in Mississippi. I was awakened in the middle of the night by the strangest noises I've ever heard! It sounded like monkeys or more specifically...
Beautiful photos & country! I'm not really a cold weather person ( true southerner) but I do love an occasional dusting of snow!
I'm thinking of making an under quilt protector out of this. Do you think it would work?
I'm going to have HG make a new UQ for me but I can't decide which fabric to choose!
I want to keep it as light as possible. What is the weight difference between the two?
What are the pros & cons...
I didn't realize the Incubator had a "head " end and a "foot" end! How do you determine which is which?
Skypainter I've been using those for a few years & they work fantastically! Very light weight & strong!
I'm mostly concerned about the zipper pull! Tape is a great idea! Thanks
Not zippers on hammocks or bug nets but zippers on clothes! Do you worry about zippers on your clothing damaging your hammocks?
I have a warm pair of fleece pants I would like to sleep in but they...
Hadn't given much thought to the stitch length! Glad you brought it to my attention!
Thanks everyone!
I'm planning to make a cover for a refectix sleeping pad for my dog! I'm thinking of using tyvek for the bottom & fleece for the top ! What thread should I use?
