Steripen is sold, quilt's still available
Hi Tnrdnck: I'd say it's rated to at least 20 degrees, and has a little over 2" baffle height.
[EDIT: ALL SOLD]
Hi all:
Selling a couple of things as we are moving. [SOLD] First is a Steripen Adventurer Opti. This worked fine last time I used it, which was a couple of years ago. Only...
After waiting 48 hours, no response from third buyer - selling quilt to ktitan. Thanks all!
OK, I guess I'll have to wait then.
rychipman and wiel don't want the quilt and kbkjr1 hasn't responded to PMs - can I sell it to ktitan?
Update: Quilt #1 is still for sale - buyers are changing their minds - any takers?
Hi all:
I haven't posted in a super long time, but I do still lurk from time to time and love to chill in my hammocks!
I recently upgraded all my quilts and made some for friends as well. I am...
BUMP for added photos! cloudveil and golite jackets still available. Pants too.
Some more stuff for sale! Sorry guys can't upload pics at the moment -- but I'll be happy to email them to you.

2) SOLD!
3) Cloudveil hooded shell jacket -- water resistant and...
Hi all:
Trying to sell a few items to fund purchase of a WM Highlite.
1) Sold!
2) Sold!
3) Mountain Hardwear softshell pants. Drawstrings in bottoms of legs, lots of pockets, fleece on...
pm sent on dry bag
I figure I can make one myself for, say, 60-70 dollars worth of silnylon.
Anyone have one they'll sell me cheaper than that? I'd really appreciate it!
Thanks.
1) You definitely want your tarp ridgeline running end to end... that is,from one tree to another. Less sag that way.
2) putting catenary or catenary like curves in a tarp isn't very much trouble,...
mmm... overquilt or sleeping bag :) I'm sure you've thought of it, just didn't list it :) Bug protection? Looks like you're good to go!
Nope. But if you are going on a climbing trip it makes sense! Most climbers don't hike a really long way to get to their destinations, so the weight wouldn't matter.
Hello sir, I will attempt to answer your questions:
1) Yes, you can tie loops in the webbing, and yes, it will weaken the webbing, but in the short-term not enough to cause it to fail (most likely...
thanks so much!
mmm I probably won't be able to make it too easy from St. Louis in a weekend, but any riders / hangers are welcome in MO anytime :)
Congratulations! In one more year I'll be where you are... if I don't drown in file folders first!!
alright alright, I've been shamed into it... :D
did the arc eliminate the extra sack of material at the bottom? I think I am going to do this with heavier netting--i.e. nanoseeum--for a bit more durability.
alright Cape Girardeau! The Trail of Tears State Park is fairly close by (like fifteen miles from town) and I believe the campsite there has a bath house. It's a nice park too with good hiking...
awesome illustration, as usual. Might I humbly ask the weight on one of these?
thanks for the responses. Guess I'll keep hanging and watch my whoopies with a keen eye!
wow, I didn't know that at all. Well shoot, does this mean I should redo my whoopies?
Would just tying a fixed loop on the end derate the amsteel less than a locked brummel splice?
All I do to attach my underquilt is just take the shockcord running through the side channels and tie two cheezy knots around the head and foot ends of the hammock which I can undo quickly later. No...
Holy smokes that's cool.
sweet tutorial! Thanks for all the pictures! Easy to follow, and looks easy to make.
One question: how long is the bottom as opposed to the top? Wondering just how steep that slope is on the...
If it's going to be a dedicated underquilt, you're going to want it to be darted eventually. Just makes life easier. I say go whole hog! Do it once, instead of twice ;)
Hello! I am looking to make an 8x10 silnylon tarp and wondered if anyone had any fabric they would want to trade? Maybe you bought it for a project you never got around to, or you have it hanging...
Welcome to the forums, kitesurfer. Regarding your mummy bag: I do get into mine and zip it up in the hammock, but I only carry a mummy bag in winter. I think you're going to be pretty warm in your...
Yeah I don't really mind that my partner also likes hammocks--it just means I get to try out double the stuff!
Not a dumb question at all. Hancock's nylon ripstop fabric is generally 1.9 oz, and I and tons of others have used it to make hammocks. Good stuff, although of course there are lighter fabrics out...
Schoene Gruesse aus dem Siegerland, kuchenkabel. Na gut--eigentlich fahre ich schon diese Woche wieder nach Hause in den USA aber Deutschland ist meine zweite Heimat :) Deine Zelt und Haengematte...
I actually think most people I've read doing this make the hammock first, then get it all set up with the ridgeline and then pin the bug netting around with a person laying in it, and just jerry-rig...
nice job. Hoping to hit those same weights on my next diy setup.
sweet. I will find out my address and email it to you. (Moving back to the US next week and I don't even know what my address is right now!)
Hey I was just wondering if you have gotten any feedback on hammocks made with the 1.5 oz nylon? Debating between using it or the same-ol' Hancock 1.9 oz stuff for my next hammock. Worrying about...
Nice. rockin' color combinations on the whole setup.
Anybody done it? What dye did you use?
I got some cheap, light, nanoseeum (I think) netting to make a couple bug nets. It is, unfortunately, a not so attractive beige color.
Any color but...
No! Don't do it! :scared::scared::scared:
Seriously--people post this question all the time. Some of them do it, some of them don't. If they do: they end up with a super cheap and super heavy...
I think Just Jeff's site has a "down hammock" in a couple of versions, which is basically a permanently attached / built in underquilt.
He means if you use a 5x9 foot tarp your diagonal will be longer than 10 feet, which is long enough. 5x13 gives you a diagonal much longer than you really need.
If you want to hang it...
Hallo Nico und schöne Grüße! (Ich komme aus St. Louis aber bin im Moment in Siegen) Herzlich wilkommen im Forum!
My hammock has W whipping, and I do find this helps me to lay flat. No harm in...
that's awesome--I love the happy kid pictures. Teach 'em right when they're young!
Hello Iboschi, welcome to the forums!
Everybody here seems to like Warbonnet hammocks:

And Speer Hammocks are of course long-time favorites:...
Hey--welcome to the forums!
When do you need the hammock? I have a Byer Mosquito hammock that I am planning on selling--but I won't be home for a few weeks yet. Maybe I could get my girlfriend...
Are you sure it wasn't something else causing the cold spots? i.e.--was it snugged up to your hammock really well... was the down compressed at all anywhere... any gaps where a draft might come in?
...
Hey Chattanooga! My home town ... well really it's Ooltewah. Enjoy hanging in your beautiful mountain paradise.
