Ooh, I forgot to mention that I had an awesome time at the hotsprings in Big Sur, and hanging was nice an easy down there. Like you said NoJack, after that long hike, nothing feels like a nice hot...
Thank you NoJack, that sounds great. I was hoping for around a 10 mile each way or a loop, so your recommendation is perfect, and the weather should be pretty nice for a good ole campout.
Do you...
Does anyone have any experience backpacking/hammock camping in Big Sur? I want to head down there this weekend and wasn't sure if there was a good place to backpack in and camp for a night or two.
I just figured out I need the other side lay, and I don't need the winter top cover. I do really appreciate the help, and JollyGreen, you are the man! I really appreciate the help, and I WILL be...
If you can give me a day or 2 to get money into paypal, I will take it!! I just wont be able to get to the bank until tomorrow.
Do you still have the Warbonnet?
I'm not in the Eastbay, but I could come that direction really easily. I just drive through there up to Shealor Lake last weekend.

Wishing I was back in mine right now...I spent the night last night near South Lake Tahoe in mine, and couldn't have been happier!
I know it's not the greatest idea to put the tent up...

Went over to Shealor Lakes and hiked down for the evening. It is beautiful down there, but the fire that was apparently pretty close did put a damper on my pictures, haha.
Poor pups, luckily you had some booties to be able to put on them when you did. I wish I could bring my dogs, but Boston Terriers aren't the greatest hiking dogs, and sitting still in a hammock...
Perfect, I know where I'm going this weekend then! And as far as the dogs go, why the need for the booties so early in the season?
I'm going to head out either Friday night or Saturday morning solo and hopefully do some backpacking with the hammock. Did you need reservations at Shealor Lake to camp?
I'm thinking of doing the Skyline to Sea trail starting in Castle Rock next Friday (or in the weeks to follow if anyone is interested in coming) and ending up in Santa Cruz on Sunday. I found the...
Thank you Shug, that video made me go get one when I found it a few weeks ago! Only one quick backpack trip so far, but next weekend I'm out again, and my Amok is coming with. I'll take the weight...
I ended up getting to the Castle Rock parking lot around 7:15pm or so, and just hiking down the ~3 miles to the campground. I got there in the dark and set up with the help of the headlight. nice...
So I was thinking of either Castle Rock or Big Basin after work on Friday and relax for the night. Has anyone had a good stay at either?
Thanks
I'm new on here, but I'm in Santa Cruz and am in for a semi-local hangout.
Thanks Redearmedia, would you recommend the 9 if possible?
How would the Synmat 7 LW work for this one? I know it's not quite as thick as the 9, but it's pretty warm around here in Santa Cruz, and if I can get away with spending a little less, I'd be happy.
Hello Everyone,
I was just getting back into backpacking/camping again after a hiatus to finish school and work home life...etc, and when looking to buy a tent I came across Shug and Sintax's...
