I have for you today:
- Warbonnet Blackbird XLC. 1.7 Single Layer. Brown. Webbing/Buckle suspension. I'll toss in a couple of carabiners, too. I never slept in it, but I did set it up one time to...
That's a cool tool, man!
Taylo,
Went there today and bought some 7/64" silver amsteel. He didn't know what I was talking about when I asked about zing it or lash it. I couldn't find it in the store nor could I find a spot...
Thanks for the heads up, man! I hate waiting for rope to get shipped!!
I've found the easiest method for me is just straight zing-it as my tie outs. I just use a marlin spike hitch at whatever point in the line I want to stake it out.
I buried the ripcord so deep per a tutorial I saw on youtube. Going a little more shallow seems to help. I'm using a very thin whipping twine that's almost like a tiny ribbon. The zing-it didn't work...
Here's a video I made showcasing the issues I'm having.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sxvYHYyMMQI
Huh, doesn't look like that embed worked... the link:...
I know exactly what you're talking about. It's hard to grip the zing-it with your hands when you're trying to pull it tight. My previous ridgeline was a continual from AHE. I had a little more...
I think the issue with having the adjustable eye of the whoopie sling around the tree would be that once you gave it more slack to extend the length, you'd have less rope making contact with the tree...
I just finished a double ridgeline for my tarp. I went with the UCR method. I only have 6 inches of bury and it holds just fine under tension.
I've made plenty of Nacrabiners, but I'm just trying to get the soft shackle with a ripcord to work correctly.
I'm using 7/64th" amsteel and was using really thin whipping twine for the ripcord....
I've been on a soft shackle spree the past couple of days, and I've tried putting ripcords in them to make them open more quickly. Sometimes they work just fine, sometimes they don't. I think it...
I just got done with a DIY hammock using Knotty's tutorial with the WB whipping. Now I get it!!
Thanks, Knotty! Just finished mine about 3 hours ago. With that WB whipping method, now I understand how my BB gives me such a wide, roomy, flat lay. I made this with the intent of it being my winter...
I own a WBBB Dbl 1.0 and I tried the pad inbetween layers thing only to find that it was annoying at best. My vote would just be to go with whichever is lightest for the strength that you need.
Calendared nylon refers to each individual thread being squished or flattened. Mont-Bell uses calendared nylon in their down jackets to assist in down proofing. They've got fancy diagrams about it...
Yep, no luck here in AZ. I wanna order some stuff!!
Really late to the party here, but when I'm laying in my BB, the body fabric (under your feet, not the top sewn in over your feet fabric) in the footbox seems more loose to me. Also, the fabric right...
Nice work, Tim! And make sure to put, like, I don't know... a couch cushion underneath you or something! It'd be hard to backpack with a butt cast on!
Awesome! Thanks for the info everyone!
I bought a new tarp stuff sack for my Granite Gear tarp and I want to snip off the attached stuff sack on the tarp itself. Should I be worried about the fabric fraying so much that it damages my...
I just picked up some of the JRB Grip Clips and tried them out. They are super light and work well, but I am a bit worried about sliding them around while they're attached to my tarp. It does crimp...
I can't wait to order one! Hurry up, pay day!
My Burrow is sitting in the post office RIGHT NOW about a mile away and I can't get it until tomorrow. I'm thinking about breaking in!
Received my new bishop bag for my tarp, and new tree huggers from Paul at AHE. Surprised my tarp fit! Also replaced suspension on my new WBBB. It's whoopie time!
I have a friend back home who uses an Ember with his ENO. I'll see if he has any word on whether he can get a good diagonal lay in it or not.
Great review! I have heard a lot of "blue pad" talk around here and decided to grab a blue pad from Walmart. It's horribly stiff and bunches and folds like crazy. Pretty much unusable in my ENO....
Nice! This is the exact setup I used when I got my first hammock. I used 550 cord which I found stretched WAY too much. I went to other cord then I eventually made the same evolution I think lots of...
Welcome! I'm from Mobile myself!
Now run over to Alabama Outdoors on Dauphin St. and tell my buddy Chad to get a WBBB!!
This is great! Thanks!
I'm looking for a new TQ and I've been looking at the Snivellers and the Hudson River. Does the omni tape have the same annoying characteristics as velcro? The idea of having my base layers get...
QUICK! Somebody develop a tarp with a 20' ridgeline!!
My brother and me hanging around at one of our many ATF campouts back in Alabama.

That's the exact reason I'm going with a 3/4 UQ. I'm a warm sleeper, so I like the ability to slide it around and vent it.
I'll be leaving Yellowstone in about a month and then I'm headed to the south rim of the Grand Canyon for the Winter. I checked the weather from last Winter where I'll be... and I saw some negative...
Awesome! Thanks for the input everyone!
Anybody think the 900fp option is worth the extra $35 on the Burrow and Crowsnest? It seems to me like it'd be worth it just to say I have 900fp down in my...
Bonezone! Looks great to me! I'm anxiously awaiting my WBBB to come in the mail and am currently looking for a good door-close-able tarp. How much was that one?
I'm guessing that a UQ's temp rating would be just as important as a TQ's... But just wondering, does anyone use a summer UQ much lower than it's rating with any luck? If I can get away with a 40*...
Yeah! Where all can you buy snake skins? I need some for a 10x10 sil GG tarp. Will the HH ones fit?
Cut darts in it?
I bought a wally world blue pad, cut it in half, and sewed it back together to make it 40x36 rather than 72x20. It makes a nice, wide U shape that I figured would be perfect in a hammock. But I just...
Anyone using a pad with their double layer BB? I'm going to have to go pad style until I can get my crowsnest and I'm wondering who's had success with what pads. My Prolite 4 is horribly unruly and...
I am also in the same weight class and when I contacted Brandon, I was told that the wait time for either the 1.0 or the 1.1 would be about 1 1/2 weeks. So I went with the 1.0. It's lighter, cheaper,...
Absolutely! As soon as I get it I plan on making a review video. My buddy back home is still stuck on ENO. UNFORTUNATE!!
Argh! I'm stoked! Not long now until I receive the world's greatest piece of backpacking gear!
Argh!! This'll go quickly I bet! If only I didn't have to pay rent! I'm a Montbell fanatic!!
PS. Is it the UL SSDH like on the link? You might want to specify that it's the UL and not just the...
I would prefer to just order the fabric and take it to a seamster, but I'm in Yellowstone NP for the next few months, so I would have to drive a few hours to a town to try to find one. That's why I...
Do you know the dimensions of the hammock?
Thanks, Brian! That's the exact reason I chose those dimensions. I'd like to do one DIY, but since I don't have a sewing machine, I was just wondering if anyone would mind doing just that step for me...
Wondering if anyone with a sewing machine would like to sell me a 120" x 65" piece of nylon with hemmed and sewn edges. I'd just order some nylon myself, but I have no sewing machine nor do I have...
