These are interesting. I'll be trying both. Not sure how lowering the foot end of my hammock will work out but it's sure worth a try.
There is no doubt dehydration and muscle fatigue will cause cramps but I think, as with any thing, there will be almost as many reasons for cramps as there are responses. I have leg and foot cramps...
What a neat show and some Shug to go with it. That was like mashed taters AND gravy!
Swinenus americanus!
Welcome to the forums and our addiction. As BB said North Ga is covered up with trails to enjoy. If you are looking for something a little less strenuous with easy access check out Pine Mountain...

I’m also nearby over in Forsyth. I’d be glad to meet you and let you compare my gear to sidney’s. I’ve got a WBBB XLC, Dutchware Chameleon, WB Superfly, and HG and Arrowhead quilts. It would allow...
I've got to brag on Dutch and his team just one more time. I contacted them a little over a week ago about a small issue with my Chameleon that needed some sewing to repair and I don't sew. My email...
I don't know the right answer but a couple of weeks ago I tested my 20* Incubator combined with my 1 season Jarbidge. Not knowing right from wrong I put the Jarbidge next to me and the Incubator...
WOW! What a view. Very nice camp.
Spent last night out and set a personal low in a hammock at 18*. Compared to you folks north of us that's nothing but for us gnat swatters it's pretty cold. It was a test to see if I could take my...
I use these for storing chenille used for fly tying. http://www.oasisbenches.com/images/ChenilleCenterSet.jpg
They work well for that purpose and should work well to store small quantities of zing...
Was in the hardware store today and saw something similar to these. Never thought about them before but this post came to mind when I saw them. They are called "beadle wraps". The ones I saw were not...
Prayers for strength and peace for you and your family.
Haven't seen those but I like them.
Wish I could move to another spot without leaving my property. Still noodling on the idea of using shade cloth or E blanket, or silver tarp.
I have the same problem with the Sunsetter as I do with the shade sale. House design where I can hang won't accept the awning.
Ha! Tell me about it. The south side is not by choice, it's all I got. I am down to 3 choices. 1. Making shade when needed to make this spot work. 2. Buy a stand or install posts. Not many good...
I've never been in Harbor freight but that seems like a good reason to go.
A shade sail was my first choice because I also have my grill station in the same area of the deck as my hammock hangers and it is miserable cooking during the day in the summer. A sail just won't...
I like the shade cloth idea. It would probably take 80-90% to block enough. Found some 70% aluminet which should reflect some also. That really has a high potential.
These would work well patched together or if they were larger. I'm going to search for some larger sizes.
Another possibility.
No, there are tall trees within 40' of my house but the sun is so high I would have to have the trees on the deck to provide any shade.
This is on my short list.
My hammock lounging spot is on my deck and it's great, except in the summer. The deck is south facing and in full sun from 9am until sunset. I'm trying to cobble together a shade tarp so I can lay in...
Souperman, good job on the videos and great job looking after your hiking partner. I lived in Hiawassee for 5 years and spent many days on the AT in Ga. That section from Tray to the NC line is tough...
I have the same issue with headaches but not as frequent as you are having. I feel like mine is related to my "pillow". At home I hang on the deck exactly the same every time. I have tried sleeping...
Cowboy, I may have written my comments improperly leading you to misinterpret what was really meant. I can fix that with the edit function. Let me clear up also that I am not "old guard". Heck, I'm...
Thanks to Paul and the guys at HYOH for the interview. As always, it is enlightening to hear the backstory.
Nested.
Great looking facility! Congratulations on the move.
Use a clean tshirt draped over my head down to about 35. Below that do the same with a fleece sweater. Been fine for me down to 15F which is my record low. Doesn't get that cold over here in Georgia....
Thank you very much for the video. I'm relaxed from just watching it. What a nice camp site. Sorry you have to deal with the folks feeding the bears.
Thanks for the info.
Apparently such a place doesn't exist. So let me ask a different question. If you were going to construct a place for you and a few friends to hang while camping, how would you design the area? The...
Do you have any photos of hammock friendly hanging spots you care to share? Specifically looking for photos of parks, rec areas, etc, where hanging spots were created with timbers or metal poles....
When is National Quilt Day? I need a lynx. :D
That's a great idea. Gotta try it.
6'3" and 215. Have Dutch 11' poly and hexon. I'm comfy in both. If you can ever get comfortable in a gathered hammock, you should be fine in a Dutch wide hexon.
Only camping is at the Leconte shelter. Plenty of trees and bears. It is a good climb to the top on any of the 5 trails but not so bad if you are in reasonable shape. The cabins at Leconte Lodge are...
