I ordered some down for a project and it was separated into 1 oz pouches with a little extra for good measure. I will be ordering all of my down from Wilderness Logics from now on. The prices and...
I ordered down from Wilderness Logics and the down was packaged into separate 1 oz pouches without asking. Will make my UQ's alot easier than my TQ's where I had to measure my own amounts out.

I'd love to join in but I have to take the Mrs. to an archery competition. Maybe next time.

I just finished making cords and hanging my Superfly. I love it and can not wait to finish my DIY UQ and use it. The Kelty Triptease with 1/8" shock cord tensioners are going to work wonderfully. ...

I love DIY. First I made whoopie slings, then Down quilts and a DIY bushbuddy stove. After my success with the down quilts, I feel capable to make anything else I need. The only problem I have is...
Mine also arrived today. I'm looking forward to rigging it up in my yard tomorrow. The cord locks and shockcords do not come included strom. I will be using some kelty triptease, 1/8" shockcord,...
Welcome Monkeybane.
I just made my own whoopie slings and ridge line for about $10 and it only took 15 minutes so if you do decide to try them they are relatively cheap and easy. I also made my...

I look forward to reading about your adventures. If it helps, I like to first clean my pans and cookware with my tounge. :D Then I will usually rinse off what is left with a...
The tarp looks great Fronkey. Congrats!
Hey everyone, I just finished my first down-filled TQ and I want to thank Ramblinrev for the technical help as well as the confidence boost I got from his videos. They were a wonderful aid to make...
Welcome to HF! My wife and I enjoy paddling and camping as well. Hope to hear about some of your trips. Last year we took a 50 mile trip with a stay at a state park(in a tent, the next month we...
The one inch amsteel is $9.47 a foot here, but you would only need that if you were trying to make a hammock for your pet elephant. Here is a list of all their different sizes and colors of amsteel....

I am 6'3" and 215 lbs. I sleep in a ENO DoubleNest just fine, but that is the extent of my hammock experiences so far. Good luck with your hammock hunting!

My wife and I were planning on making a trip there this summer. The scenery looks amazing. I really enjoyed your video and look forward to part 2. Thanks for sharing Shug!
-Dan
I've been looking forward to this, hope I'm able to make it. I'm not sure about my schedule so I'll just have to wait until a date is set to see if I'll be able to make it. Hopefully I can...
I just read this a couple of days ago, never thought of sharing it. Thanks Gumbo, it is a good article.

Welcome to HF!
Good luck on your DIY Hammock. I'm in the middle of making a TQ (wife said I needed to eat something) and I am having a blast so far. Let us know about how your hammock goes and...
3/8" carbon fiber arrow shafts cut 4" long. I can't break them by jumping on them so I feel very secure.

Slanket,
Have you tried climbing into the bug net to see if it can really hold up? Just Kidding, unless it was designed for clumsy campers that roll out of the hammock in the night. At...
Bob, I use an ENO DN and I also have lower back pain due to stupidity in my younger days. When my back acts up I will set up my DN in the basement because it feels good. You will want a ridge line...
I ordered them from Jacks R Better. The image on the site is not the same as what I received. I'm not sure if the 1" are the same, I ordered the 1.5" along with the straps. I hope this helps.

My wife bought us a GSI Dualist last year. The set works great and packs down to practically nothing. Good luck finding a set for yourself, they are worth it!

Welcome to HF! My wife and I love to bring our hammocks paddling in the summer. Maybe I'll see you on the river.

I can't do anything without my wife, and I'm not sure I would want to;). We take the kids as well if we are car camping, but they are in their own small tent. When they are older, I will get them...
I worry about my truck when I'm out camping, but I worry about it in my garage too. :scared: When camping, I'm just so happy to be out that I don't think about it until it is in sight when I...
That's great Trevlett! I spent last weekend making two yellow amsteel whoopie slings for my DN and trying out my new dutch clips and treehuggers as well. I wish I had ordered an UQ but the funds...
Awesome Hooch:laugh:
Last summer, I hung my hammock with slap straps as high as I could while still being able to get into it. I am 6'3" 180 and I woke up an inch or two off the ground. I still have my slap straps, and...
I have used 1/2" of heat shrink tubing and a hair dryer to hold amsteel together until I was ready to use it. It also works well to hold everything together while you taper the ends.

Me, my wife, my 6yo daughter, and my 3yo son. Claimed 400 and I had to test it to make sure they weren't lying. :D

Welcome to HF!
I'm waiting for the thaw to get back into my hammock as well. This website is a great source of knowledge when starting out. I have just finished my whoopie slings and I'm...
I have had over 390 in my ENO DN and everything held strong except for the stretchy slapstraps. I love using my DN for everything from backcountry camping to relaxing in my yard.

Rabid Deer,
My wife and I started with DoubleNests and we both love them. They are very comfortable to sleep in. Just follow the advice and do not use the slapstraps. You can start out with the...
Thank you for this tip. I struggled with my tarp last fall and eventually gave up on the hammock and tarp working together. This should make setting up less frustrating for me.
Thanks again!

I have an ENO DoubleNest and it sleeps one comfortably. My wife and I laid in it together once but we could not get comfortable because it was pressing us together more than we cared for.
-Dan
That looks great. It sure beats my idea of setting folding tables up around my kitchen table.
-Dan
Flatline,
This is a great idea. I'm in as well.

I am using Chrome right now without any issues accessing any page of the website.

Welcome to HF. I get my best rest in my DN.
Robbie,
Have you tried trimming a few strands out of the loose end to give it a taper? That may help you to get it started. There are a few videos about burying the loose end that show how to...
I'll admit that I've set my ENO DN up in the basement several times in an effort to fight off spring fever. I don't have the gear for cold weather hangs and I'm running out of patience waiting for...
Welcome Meander!
Back pain was one of the reasons that I moved off of the ground too. My wife and I hope to make it down to the Ozark trail sometime and hang around.

We would love to join you for this event but between work, kids, and friends we would not be able to. I'll look forward to hearing about it in the forum though.
