As stated above a cotton shoelace works great. Just tie it around whoopie making sure to keep it covered by your tarp
I love my HH. Been using it for almost 2 years. Just now trying out a WBBB xlc to see if I like an 11 ft hammock more
This is great news. Hope you stock quilts made of Argon in the future.
I'm in fo sho!!!
First off. I got my new UL tree shelf today when I got home from work. And I'd like to say thanks one more time to Klaussinator. This thing is sweet.
Setup really wasn't all that bad, it took...
I do the same thing as grannypat.
First off welcome to the forum bergur. With your height you might want to look into the Wbbb xlc since its an 11 ft hammock. It might be more comfortable for you, that's just my 2 cents.
+1 Florida hanger.
Glad to hear your enjoying the forums as much as I do!!!
Adam at Hammockgear.com offers a 50* top quilt also. And the quality of his products is superb
Awesome pictures Martin. Looks like you guys had a lot of fun. I'm definitely a little jealous.
Congrats on what looks like a really fun trip. And thanks for the pictures. If I can't get out into the woods myself at least I can live vicariously thru the members here.
What gmcttr said. Maybe the corners on the 4x4 were to sharp
I would probably cut 2-3 feet out of the bottom bar and put a smaller diameter pipe maybe a fence post into both sides and bolt it together on both sides of the cut
I use a Kelty Noah 12 for hanging in the backyard. I got it for 70 dollars from Rei. And I gotta say its huge. Plenty of coverage and lots of stake out points. Can even be staked out with doors...
Not sure if its normal or if it will lead to a hole. But my table cloth hammock has a few spots that look similar and they haven't gotten any worse in almost a year. But I do keep my eye on them.
Never had any problem with either prussic or klemheist knots. I just believe that the latter has more grip. That why I use it.
+1 on using the klemheist knot
Sounds good to me! Thank you very much Klaussinator. Look forward to hearing from you
I would love to purchase the second one if you do make a couple. i dont need a pot pad as i have a square of carbon felt i bought frome the hardware store.
Ihang. I've been a brick mason for 12 years.
As a bricklayer I can tell you braided mason line is surprisingly strong. You should be fine with 17 lbs line. They also make a waxed line that might hold good but it harder to find
Debi permethrin is only toxic to cats while its still wet. Once dry it should be fine. At least that's what I've found from some research. I treated my clothes and my hammock and one of my cats loves...
VERY cool lazy river road. Never seen that before. Thanks
+1 with what optimator said
Remember your in there territory and raccoon's are extremely curious. I almost always see some while hiking around here. They usually rummage thru my stuff while I'm asleep, doesn't really bother me...
Its great you got the youngsters out camping, plus congrats on getting the converts! Awesome buck saw by the way.
51 degrees in Pittsburgh PA Wednesday night. Can't wait to use my new 40 degree phoenix for the 1st time!!!
I use a little line level made by Stanley. I got it at Wally World for something like 1.50. It stays on my hammock ridge line always. Its only 2 inches long at most
Great idea Scroggs, my hammock takes up more room in my pack than just about any other single item. It would be cool if you could make a kit to attach to an existing pack or offer a larger size for 1...
+1 on what silvrsurfr said. my 0 degree is way to warm above 55-60 degree nights.
my advice is to try and stay at the campsites with working water pumps. many are broken or have handles removed because of not passing health inspections. i personally filtered the water from pumps...
I'm still in no matter where everyone decides. All locations suggested are very nice and should serve well for a group hang.
You have my attention. would like to see a SWPa hang. Quebec Run Wild Area near Uniontown is nice. Hike In for sure. Or bike
wally world has price match. i pulled the web page with price on my phone and they matched it. no problems
A 20 degree Phoenix from hammock gear is only 179.00. and being a 3/4 length UQ mine covers me from head to toe being 5'10'' and sleeping semi curled up
1.75 zingit continous ridgeline over the tarp. dutchware dutchhook and tarpflys. attach tarp to ridgeline with prussiks and dutchware biners
Thats beautiful. I just got my 0 degree phoenix yesterday, now I'll start saving for my cuben tarp. Oh it never ends:lol:
Hello, from Pittsburgh. Its nice to have more cyclist campers!!!
Nice setup caveman. I use a contiuous ridgeline with dutchware dutchhook and tarpflyz. and run the ridgeline over the tarp with prusiks for centering it. I might try your setup and see if its any...
Thank you everyone for the warm welcome:thumbup:
Hello and Welcome from Pittsburgh
The tip about checking the angle with your fingers is great thanks:D
Its my trailname that I aquired for wearing a ponytail on top of my head, sortof like pebbles flintstone, I needed to keep my hair out of my face and it wasn't long enough for a regular ponytail
I'm a new convert, i've hiked the northern half of the A.T. and rode my bike across the country both using a tent and I never slept as well as I have since getting my HH. Since getting my HH i've...
I like the BoB for very extended trips, like I said this was a X country ride. For anything less than 2 weeks I stick with my rear rack and panniers. On another note Trialers expecially the BoB...
38469 Thought I'd show you my set up. BoB trailer with RubberMaid 18 gal (I think) roughneck bin. Plenty of room for gear on my 2011 Xcountry trip, plus completely waterproof.
