I traveled through Zürich (Switzerland) this month and came across this oversized spreaderbar nethammock
almost closer to a cot or a flying mattress , the sheer size making it quite a comfortable...
I'd go with heavy jersey needles over Denim needles for webbing , they will do less harm to the webbing and more or less slide through instead of cut through.
+1 on Schmetz needles and Güterman...
I was about to hang in the middle of a circus bigtop 2 weeks ago, but seeing how everyone got more and more pissed i decided i rather go to ground than have someone fall into my BB or decide to jump...
Atleast on OWF there is only one type of PES (Polyester) which is preferable to Polypro.
Quest doesnt seem to have any ,what AHE an Whoopieslings.com sell seems to be what i know from warbonnets...
OWF also carries 1" PES webbing . Not sure about the thickness+type of weave , but i'm pretty sure it has been recommended in the past
If you dont want to pull your suspension line through the sewn channel, you can pull any small cord through the channel and pull it tight to gather it , go around the fabric once with each end then...
You could tie in a rel. small shockcord loop and eventually a tubular fabric sleeve around it Either to save the shockcord but some rubbing between the sleeved loop and the tarp-tieout can still...
We should check for the results of the research that has been ordered by the european? federation of slacklining , afaik they checked for the dammage made by the tree huggers that are used in...
I'm not the OP but this sounds good! However if the pads are just webbing i doubt they would do much and i fail to imagine a substantial enough material that wouldnt make this heavier than webbing...
I dont think there really is a lighter option than 1" poly webbing ,you might get away with 3/4 inch but imo thats so small you could just go ahead and use a rope tree hugger with trail sticks...
Thats neat!
:)
i wonder if there are any other modification to allow for the netting to be pulled all the way to the side:confused:
maybe i never unzipped all the way or just didnt pull to...
I like the footbox on mine, and i had the impression that depending on how the bird is hung it does make a difference in the lay.
But design-wise afaik it is there to give you an unrestricted foot...
Not to hijack the thread but how does a rope tree "strap" /tree-hugger preserve any of the tree conserving properties of the already small webbing huggers
To the OP if you choose the...
Perfect! no more problems :D , i didnt challenge the CR by trying it with an unclipped end, but i think i will soon resort to some kind of elastic whipping instead of the prussik+mini-biner i'm...
I have a 1.7dbl BB and a friend might be getting a frontline. If she does i'll report back with a comparison:)
the bags seem to be quite large, maybe you can convert them to a peapod-like system!?
i wouldnt want to carry that for long distances repeatedly though
Edelrid makes a gear biner rated to 1433lbf that weigts 13g , it's what i have been using since i got my BB without a problem so far.
They are also a lot cheaper than lightweight climbing biners @...
dang i should have thought of that :P , worked quite well , thank you:)
I now made 28cm /11" buries , which was about the longest i could do with the part i already had whilst keeping an eye on...
:D thanks I'm on it
Is there a clever way to undo a backsplice? short of cutting it at the end?
It's thanks to those threads that i wanted to build the UCR suspension = )
2x range for the same length + less additional rope VS a Whoopie just sounds too good
I had a prussik on the "inner"...
Hey all
my WBBB had spend quite a long time in its bag with me spending the winter/spring home .
Now i remembered i wanted to change the suspension from my single ring+ slipped buntline hitch to...
I made one last year with this sewn in on one loop end.
It just moves to the side in the loop , when used as a tree hugger .
I guess you could use something like this there was a link for a...
Yes and No:laugh:
It's looped trough the ring and back to the cordlock , although you might just have meant that. I keep deciding (and forgetting) to tie a stopper knot on the end of mine aswell as...
Maybe you could coat the now uncoated side to get full coverage and not have to worry about the spots where you cant get the old urethane off ?!?
Before you spend too much time on this project i'd suggest to you to use a hammock with integrated bugnetting and a tarp with doors or big enough to make doors just as a comparison .
Your idea is...
I'm hanging on the 13g Edelrid Aranya from extremtextil , has been under 140 kg loads so far and of course no problem i wouldnt dare to try hanging from the micro 0 but that micro 3 sounds ok....
Recently i've been thinking that a bridge hammock might be the most versatile.
If you go to ground both spreader bars together could be used as a single pole to hold up your tarp as your ground...
Might i suggest having a investigative look at the broken line !?
The line is pretty light but i'm almost certain the cordlocks and shockcord would give before it breaks! How tight did you tension...
I doubt this netting would be a bright sky blue or even as "bright" as this. Also i think i've seen pictures of it in a finished project and it looked just black but i'm not sure ..
It's aproximatly .74 oz/yd² to be more exact
and i imagine the beige and blue could be referred to as white and black if you're not anal about describing the colour
No idea if that makes it...
Where are you at?
If you cant find that specific Samson branded rope there will most probably be alternatives around!
Many other manufacturers make Dyneema rope, all you have to look for if you...
I imagine if you want to larkshead to it wearing gloves the D-Ring is easier because it's always open you dont have to fiddle with the loop you want to pass your cord through.
It's probably also...
Some of you using webbing suspension might like this
http://www.hammockforums.net/forum/attachment.php?attachmentid=8657&stc=1&d=1267655681
although it seems to be rather large!
Spinntex, Silicone impregnated treated Polyester Ripstop ,there are many different Spinnaker Sailcloths mostly not waterproof and rather stiff few are packable enough and waterproof as spinntex.
At...
I was thinking along the a similar line about a year ago
Only realized it for the TQ but that was just because of missing time and money
If you're using synth insulation you may find a way to use...
The increase in contact area from a rope which even if rather big and soft will be no bigger than 5(?) mm
o atleast one inch should be spreading the pressure quite effectively ,
so what's needed...
I was like this but it got alot better and although i'm not sure what made it change i have a few suggestions
walk bare-foot (even if you dont want to go without shoes all the time, being in...
When i was hanging on the bank of the Rhône in Avignon earlier this summer my suspension was pretty close to its max so the span from tree to tree must have been around 36feet/11m.
I had to climb...
Never thought about the dangers of such a thing, good to be warned about it in case i ever touch one!
Hope it heels fast and nice!
canoebie
I looked into cut resistant gloves some time ago...
oops it was bootskram.com
and on a fast search i just found http://express2.ep.se i cant read swedish but they only list the 5mm D-Pro but maybe they can get the 3mm too, i bet there are others...
If you cant find Samson rope Liros might be an alternative.
I got my suspension ropes from bootskram.de.
I bet there are swedish boating/sailing or surfing/gliding shops that sell some too
Line and these for 12g each
But i think webbing would really be faster and more convenient, i bet i'll be a lot faster with setup than now soon though:D
I fold both sides toward the middle (and then roll it), far more practical due to the shape and does not create creases in the middle.
At ~41" it's probably larger than most though, and for i...
I tried that yesterday but i ended up with the shockcord close to completely stretched and the UQ still sagging.
I'll just give it another go and try it with nonelastic guyline if it does not work...
I have a cut to (angel/bird)shape 4mm EVA pad, yet to sleep on it but i just tested it an hour ago and it stays in place fine.
It is 105cm large at the wings(1m long) and tapers from 50 to ~40cm at...
This is the closest thread i could find,
What strength of shockcord are you using with your UQs ?
I'm finishing mine and i think my shockcord is not strong enough, it is 3mm cord rated at 35daN....
I got their Hex Tarp today, bought as a last minute saver when i was told i wont get the SpinnakerPoly i ordered more then a month ago
Looks like a very nice starter Tarp for Europeans...
Hey Brandon
I just sent an email before i read your post
Thanks for looking!
And hearing about an easy fix saves my day :D
We were in there for maybe 20minutes, some time was sitting but taking care not to lean against that ridge
Animalcontrol, she's probably lighter than me but i assumed the BB (talking about the...
