There are campsites along the forest roads that are easy enough to use. You could do some of the easier trails that are out and back but i agree with others in that you probably shouldn't take him...

after watching professor hammocks' video i have doubts about biners and dutch clips. Not as safe under stress as i had thought!!

I use a full sleeping bag as tq and would keep it that way. It has never gotten in the way and has been useful for many situations. Using it will show you what is best for your particular situation..

i have used this system but i put the reflectix down first with the foam pad over it. It didn't cause any condensation problems and worked very well down to about 40 degrees. good inexpensive idea...
