Question: What tarp do you use for full winter coverage that takes into account the spreader bars?
I have a Speer Winter Tarp and a Warbonnet Superfly....

Ha! The only thing is, in the winter you turn in so early and it stays dark so long. So by the time to sun starts to rise, my orange shovel starts calling!:scared:
Dagum... Shut this thing down. I just added to my order!
Put me down for 7/64 Blue - 100'
Thanks Opie
Roger that Cannibal. It never ceases to touch me. (or a sunrise, which is what these are picture of :D)
Hey BlueFin my old friend! Just saw your post. So sorry for the delay in response. I have the sil-nylon tarp. I love it. Hope all is well with you. Travel safe!
Welcome golfer! From Cumming, GA.
I got a chance to go out for an overnighter on the AT the Wednesday after Christmas. I went with a couple college-age, ground-dwelling whipper-snappers... We didn't travel too far, less that 4 miles...
PS ~ 7/64 orange 100'
Thanks!
Nice knot! Will have to try it.
Thanks.
Love that spot. I was out just north of you at Wolf Laurel Top.
I need to get pics up.
Backyard tonite - in the teens.
Wed - Thur - the AT somewhere in GA.
My sense is the past couple of years this has been a very loose event. Sounds like some folks have just shown up. Springer is traditionally pretty windy.
Cold and snow down here now, but it's...
Grace and Peace to you and your family at this time....
YES! Stay away from anywhere on the AT in the spring. There can be upwards of 40 tents at Springer and a full shelter every night...
Gotta put a piece of heavy-duty aluminum foil in my go bag!
Great idea, thanks for sharing...
Just Paypaled.
Thanks KK!

Yes to a winter buff!
They are GREAT folks and do execptional work! I speak from experience and as the proud owner of a tarp with both door and pole mods!
Let's give it up for Tim and Donna!!!
I've been very happy with this set-up. Heat the water, make the coffee in the pot, slip it into it's own sleeve, attach the lid, sip and enjoy.

The 2QZQ pole mod is the bomb-diggity...
Really opens up the space inside.

For what it's worth, here's a pic of the Raon Mtn shelter. It's the old fire warden's cabin. It does have an "upstairs." It was a chilly place when we spent the night there the end of May and few...
Ha! Our lots backs up to a 3 acre pond. We've lived here for 9 years and it froze over completely for the first time last year! We ain't got no ice skatin' down here in GA! But I did get in an 11...

I made an impulse buy of Eno's Twilights in the checkout line at REI the other day. I strung them up along my tarp's ridgeline. I really enjoyed the effect!

Cutter ~ You are exactly right! This is a piece of gear you want to try out at home, alone, before you try it in front of your buds...
Anybody tried one of these: http://www.rei.com/product/792007
TheClymb had them for just under 30 bucks the other day....
I have a Crazy Creek Cradle Lounger I've taken out if I'm not going far....

Hey Folks,
Sorry to do this but a while back there was a thread covering everyone's favorite knife or blade to carry into the woods. I remember kukris getting rave reveiws and there being a number...

Welcome my GA neighbor. A bunch of us on here.
Welcome from NGa!
Canoeski,
Because of the depth of the pole pockets I would be afraid to try it. Too much tension..
Let's do it. I drive through Sugar Hill twice a day.
I've used grip-clips on my SWT. It leaves a little pucker in the material but it eventually goes away. No big deal to me. It creates a significant amount of more space inside. And I use two on each...
Hey SmokeBait,
Mine has a loop sewn in the ridgeline seam. Again, mine was the guinea pig.
2Q said he woke up in the middle of the night in a cold sweat, realizing it wouldn't work. To install...

Sorry Beep... my fingers got twisted up and I inadvertently mashed "post" before I was done...
