Thanks for the explanation WV.
What is the balloon gasket?
Thanks for the help everyone we had misread the supplies list thinking that all the wood was 2x4's. Looked closer at the plans and saw what was missing. We got the 1x4 today and tried it it out,...
We (dad, brother, and me) built this stand last weekend and works great! A huge improvement on our first one, but the problem were having is it won't fold down right. The 2 4' support braces get in the...
I am talking about making the ridgeline taught to keep the bug net up off your face during the night, maximizing space in the hammock.
I made the move on the Mamajamba. Having it able to cross over into a 4 season tarp was a big factor for me. All thats left is the waiting game. I was never very good at this.
I'm strung between these 2 tarps I know that the MatCat is lighter, the Mamajamba is wider. Does anyone have a personal preference on one those these tarps. Just to let you know I'm looking at the...
Again thanks for the help everyone I indeed have a full understanding of what a tag is!
Thanks for the help everyone I have decided to save and get one that I really want. I guess I will be able to deal with a pad a little longer.
Ok it makes sense now thanks for the help guys.
When you post a thread their is an option for tags:confused:. You are able to have 12 of them. Am i missing something really obvious?
I have been using a pad setup in the hammock for awhile now and have decided to switch to a UQ. Money is tight now so it can't break the bank. It also needs to be able to go down to 20 degrees. Any...
I see the post a poll box at the bottom of the options, but I don't see where you type the poll suggestions? Or is that I'm just not looking close enough:mellow:
Oh my bad I guess I need to look closer. Thanks for the temps.
Looks very cool, thanks for sharing.
If your dogs so tiny how does it fare hiking and everything, or is it that he only goes car camping with you?
Thanks for all the help:lol:
Where can I find the price and what degrees they can go down to?
Ok thank you, so that clears things up for me.
So what do you suggest? Just look for an old one and make sure that it can still be serviced?
This is might be to big for him but you can do a thing like Jeff's kids hammock.

Thanks for the link. Do you know how much weight that it will hold?
Thanks this is actually making some sense now? Does anyone know of someone who is selling Insultex gear?
Thanks for the advice. The only thing I'm wondering about is how did you get for free?
I have seen a lot of threads talking about Insultex and people making UQs and stuff out of it. What I'm wondering is what is Insultex?
Welcome. The wealth of info that you'll receive will be overwhelming!
Cool trip, and cool photos. Only if I knew German
Technology! Its unbelievable:thumbup:
The hammock for your dog would be the kids one right? And would you hang under you or would it be close to you?
So the newer ones aren't as reliable as the older ones. Any certain brand that you recommend?
Thanks I'll have to try to make my dog one. Does the hammock way all that much?
I have the same problem as you, tarp is to small for my liking, and I don't have the extra dough to get a larger tarp right now. If it does work out let me now so I can give it a go.
Would it be better to buy a new one, or a used one?
This is so true! And welcome!
Welcome I haven't heard of Tyvek house wrap used as a tarp. If it works out post some pics. Welcome again and Happy Hanging
Thanks for the help:D
I'm new to the sewing concept, but wanted to do some DIY stuff. Does anyone have any tips on what I should look for in a sewing machine, that won't break the bank?
This is a very clever and useful idea. My only question is how do they do in cold weather? Do they freeze and not take up the slack?
Wonderful set of videos again........I sure wish I had the time to do 8 nights!
I've been wanting to do the same thing with my HH. If you do get around to doing it. Could you post some pictures and tell how you like it?
Welcome to HF once you have slept in a hammock once you will be hooked forever. Happy Hanging:lol:
What are the dimensions on your dogs hammock? And does he even have a UQ that you made!
It can get in the way depending on what type of hammock you get. If you get a HH you can always get 2Q's mods, so for when the bugs are out you can have it as a regular hammock. In the winter you can...
Will do Shug, and thanks again for all the input!
I haven't tried the dog bones. Do you prefer those over the rope and prusicts?
I built this stand with 1 1/4 rigid conduit. Using a 1 3/4 drill, the poles were 6ft at a 56 degree angle to the 4x4, and the poles had a lot of play in them. I'll have to try again with a smaller...
I just sit in the hammock and take off my shoes from there. My pack is strapped to a nearby tree. If it rains I just put my pack cover over my pack or I use my rain jacket.
I'm with you there, should the pad be just long enough for the dog to lay out on then?
This idea is based off of headchange4u's tarp tensioners. For hammocks like the Hennesy the ridge line is hard to get to, so you always have to have the perfect hang for the ridge line to be taught....
Welcome to HF! The wealth of knowledge is endless:lol:
