I use a liner by itself in the Texas summers.
Hanging indoors as usual. 24 degrees ouside just north of Dallas, Texas. He'd a spot of snow this morning.
Congrats on the successful hunt, a fine pair of dogs indeed! You ate like a king on that trip, glad to see your kit worked out well. I have a fleece headcover like that as well and also think it's...
I've had a Cabela's 3D -20 bag for about 10 years and love it. Spent many a single digit night in it toasty warm when I lived in Washington state.
I set up about 5 feet or so from a game trail without realizing it until a wild hog strolled by around 11 p.m. I wasn't quite asleep when I heard him coming towards me grunting happily on his way...
That looks great, I'm going to get some and try it out!
My first year I used a -20° synthetic bag down into the upper 20's no problem in the winter. Now I have a 20° top and bottom quilts and it's mutch easier to get in and settled and the 2 quilts are...
Beautiful country there. Love the fall colors!
I finally saw a sale before it was over! Got a Jarbidge for my wife and a White Cloud for me. Now to plan a quick hang to try them out when they arrive!
That's a nice cooler full of fish! Now I'm hungry for catfish and hush puppies.
Awesome looking hike. Love seeing the trails of foreign lands!
Great views, awesome weather, and those lamb chops looked amazing!
Nice video. Looks like a good time was had by everyone.
Your tattoo is halarious! Great video and music as usual. Nice job getting the family out into nature.
I have a Dutchware gathered end in the hexon 2.4 and side sleep comfortably every night in it. Not a lot of stretch in it so maybe that helps. The hammock has been a backpain saver for me as well.
Looks like a perfect place to take the kids camping and looks like fun was had by all. Loved the music as well, thanks for turning me on to it!
Just got back from a weeks vacation and had to sleep in a bed. I'd wake up at 4 a.m. every morning with back pain. After one night home in the hammock the back feels great. As a side note, we went to...
Excellent adventures indeed (except for the girlfriend and the glasses). I went with titanium frames for my glasses and they can stsnd up to a lot of abuse. They are grandchild proof.
Love the Hexon 2.4, I sleep in it every night at home.
Fantastic pictures as usual!
Nice setup. Park police are obviously tent campers.
I'd be in for the 2.4 wide as well. I'll most likely give the 1.6 wide a go when it becomes available.
A pack check the week before is a must do in my experiance. Glad it all worked out.
Awesome hang on the roof!
Thats not a rock, thats a boulder! Good thing for that backhoe.
Beautiful woods there, looks like a great time away. Thanks for posting!
Beautiful spot to hang there! Nothing like sleeping next to flowing water.
I grew up in Safford, AZ and spent a lot of time hunting and camping in the Chiricachua's. Coatimundi's will raid your pack as well. Came upon a hikers campsite who was away and a coatimundi was...
Love that country up there. Enjoy it all you can. Thanks for taking us flatlanders along!
Nice video, loved the music as well. Looks like an awesome trip!
Looks like a fantastic time in the northwoods.
Growing up in the 70's I don't remember any of us scouts having a ground pad. A heavy sleeping bag in either a 2 man tent or just laid out on the ground. Up most of the night only to wake up at the...
Great looking meal! Looks like the hashbrowns and onions were a success.
I move around a lot less in my hammock and wake up feeling much better. That's why I hang fulltime now.
Looks like a place I would love to hike. Might have to recruit my son in law and daughter in Utah and make a go of it!
That is an awesome hang there! Nice place to get away from it all.
Loved the video. That thing is pretty slick.
You stayed warm. That takes priority over lighter pack weight in my book. You can slowly start replacing heavy gear with lighter stuff as funds allow. Sounds like a good trip.
I've been sleeping with mine for about a week now. Awesome quilt, those draft collars are the bomb. I went wide and am loving it. Won't be getting cold anytime soon. Going to start saving up for a...
Man, I live in Texas and I love it! That looks awesome, great job!
Awesome video and pics. The night pics really stir the soul.
Looks like a great hang. Thanks for the pics and report! You'all up north are some hardcore hangers, I salute you.
For Texas summers I've found the REI Helios sack or a fleece sleeping bag liner to be good options. I just got a Loco Libre synthetic underquilt and it is awesome. I will be getting a top quilt to...
Ordered mine around the middle of December and got the email today that it's ready. Charcoal gray outer, black inner. 6.0 insulation. Now to start saving for a matching top quilt! Update! It has...
Congrats on the new quilt! It's a beauty. Got the email my Cayenne Pepper is ready! George is cranking them out. Going to have to plan a little overnight to break it in!
I love it up there in the summer. I'm way too old to try that snow hiking now. Enjoy it while you can and make a lot of memories.
Going to hang fulltime or just the occasional nap?
Beautiful spot to hang and great weather it sounds like. Love seeing pictures from different locales than I am used to.
Way to stick it out. I would have probably went home when I realized I'd forgotten the tarp. Good thing you had an extra knife and matches in the car. Nice pictures!
Coyotes. Or skinwalkers.
