I just got a half wit in hexon 1.0. I would say it compresses down to about a grapefruit.
I've learned to live with the condensation, just give it a quick wipe with a towel before I pack up the hammock and I don't pay it any more mind.
Did you use the bubble pad as well?
You nailed it right there Josh, the BP will cause gapping, and then lead to cold spots. The way I have included using the BP is to set the SS up as per instructions, complete with space blanket...
I've found that even with a spaceblanket covering the foot area there will be some condensation at me feet (IE the fabric on my sleeping bag gets a little damp). I've never found that it was damp...
Im in, thanks for doing this :)
I use a single descended ring suspension and am quite happy with it. I bought my brother a hennessy and have shown him how to tie the hennesy lash. We start by tying half hitches on each side until...
I run both style of tarp (Hex and smaller summer tarp) on a separate ridgeline. It allows me more adjustment, and allows me to have the hammock done up in a snakeskin and still hide from rain under...
I'm in, thank you !
I've had mine down to freezing without issues, but I do have a warmer rated bag than you. I think I would agree with OldMart, give it a try before you commit to a few days out.
Plus shipping. I find that they work really well too, considering their cost and weight.
They still had a few sets of the torso and kidney pads a few days ago. I ordered another set for a buddy of mine.
From what I could tell in quick emails back and forth with Tom the primary difference is that there is no slit in the bottom Sunkmail. I did the same thing as you did with my undercover, removed the...
I'm in, thanks!
Thank you!
That clarifies some things.

Have been using this for a while now. The non-slip dots on the back hold it in place and I can adjust how firm it is. ...
Interesting. I've been tempted by those tarps for a while now. What I may do is make a set of doors for my hex and see if that works.
Would you be able to PM me a couple of pictures of the...
Ofuros, I take it from the pictures that the doors for that tarp are removable then?
What is the weight on it without the doors?
Had it happen to me last night, but have been fine since.
I've got the hex and find the coverage to be quite impressive. That being said, there have been days (very cold ones with blowing snow) that I have wished for the doors to keep things less drafty. ...
BillyBob, I used to fit the smaller tarp, along with the UC and the hammock into a set of skins. It was a tightish fit but it worked.
I tend to follow the same line as others now, packing my...
I'm in please.
During the summer I find the stock HH tarp to be just fine, and light.
Shoulder seasons and winter I prefer to move under something a little bigger, even if only to block wind.
Finn was the nickname I went by when I was younger, still use it for forums.
And the mods rock too! Thanks for the quick change guys!
It was when I registered :(
By the way, this site is amazing, I have found so much information here. I hope to be able to contribute something myself one day.
With the removals of inactive members do old names become available again? I had initially hoped to have the forum handle Finn but had to settle with BCFinn.
OMG my wife is always telling me to make sure I leave a corpse so she can collect! I know how you feel.
Hi Otter,
I was interested in Hammocks when I first saw one hanging in the local MEC. I finally bought the bullet a while back and invested in a HH ultralight backpacker (with both tarps). ...
