Thanks Tired and Opie, I am going to be giving this one a shot this evening. Heh, being able to have a stitchless loop like that would be great. I was fiddling around with the one in the picture...
Awesome, thanks for this Opie!
Yes, definitely. I haven't experienced any "slippage" from the buries. My slings work flawlessly. But then again, it isn't my slings I am focusing on in this project. I was just referencing them...
Here is a picture of my end goal (that's a quarter next to it for reference).

I thought I had read that the locked brummel was actually weaker than a bury... not sure where though. :-/
Also, this isn't JUST for my whoopie slings. I am working on a knot-less loop, kind of...
I'll work on getting a picture this evening... however, the knot isn't in the WS itself (that would kind of the defeat the purpose ;-))... it is a not in the whipping twine that secures the end loop...
Does anyone have any suggestions for securing a splice? For instance, on my whoopie slings, the eye end, I have followed the directions from samson, but the knot it in my whipping twine eventually...
I agree, waterfalls were the entire purpose of this trip. There are quite a few along the SC/NC Foothills Trail. There are a total of four within the area I was hiking this weekend. I only made it...
This past weekend a friend of mine and I decided to hike to some of the waterfalls along the Chattooga River. As it was his dog's first trip we kept the distance under 10 miles. It made for a great...
I have both the Double and the Single. I agree the extra material in the Double is really nice to have, especially for that diagonal lay. I bought the Single to modify into a light weight-ish...
Oh yeah, btw, I also do what MikeN said... I lie across my double and single diagonally, nothing could be finer. As well, I have found that an adjustable structured ridge line makes all the...
Gransel,
I started out with an ENO Double a few years ago but have a Single now as my primary. I have modified the single a little bit to reduce weight (yes, I'm a bit of a gram weenie). I'm down...
I'm about 260-265#, slowly bringing that down but for now it is what it is. I currently use an ENO Single or at times a Double, primarily because the rating is 400#. I have been tossing around the...
I might be down for the 13th as well... Is there a way to "watch" this thread for updates?
I agree. My 7/64" was 10" before the bury and when measured afterwards was almost exactly 8".
EDIT: Actually, I think I misunderstood what you said... but my measurements are still the same.
Thanks for all the information! It has been really helpful. It looks like I will be going with the Mamajamba Spinn.
So I was hoping to find a thread that discussed these two tarps, but I have been unsuccessful. Does anyone have any advice to offer, such as pros and cons? Or perhaps knows of a thread that does...
Does anyone have any thoughts on removing the grommets from this tarp and replacing with some webbing? The price on the tarp seems unbeatable, but I am becoming a gram weenie...
