A few people have made these and there are commercial ones. They work but you are fixed to a particular insulation for a specifoc hammock so a bit tricky for all seasons.

I have made watertight containers there are a few tricks to do that. But i would make simple 1oz and 2oz bottles first for testing

A chemist friend of mine has said that petg is not effected at all by ehtanol or bioethanol so this might be a possibility.

I make my own quilts with 900fp down and have about 3 to 4 in of loft.
And normally for me its hammock in sub zero or about -10 deg c

If its slung under the hammock from the edges of the hammock and not on a separate suspension then it should conform and keep a constant gap to the hammock not matter the shape. ...

Not quite its another independent layer with a fixed gap to allow for loft.

Thats really weird i have used them for years and never had a knot flip. But only with the noose style loop that tightens down.

There are completely different approaches.
One of the main problems with older designs is the knot used at the end, when they use a diamond knot its very very difficult to tension the knot properly...

It allows for a little bit if give and one line is strong enough on its own they are independant lines for a bit of redundancy.

Goto your local fabric store and ask for organza very strong polyester mesh

No good for bug netting but great for ultralight bags and stuff very very strong.

Nothing new here but someone asked if i could lighten their hammock so all this is 147g / 5.2oz nice to have a whole set for lots of situations.

But i started with 8ft 10in
Mark 4in and 10in and create a locked loop with burries end.

Then at the other end mark 24.5in and 29.5 in for the first loop 4 brummels. Then repeat...

It the same as a locked brummel but you keep feeding it through itself 4 times. So doesnt slip under these loads.

I didnt know that its weird

I was going on melting nylon and poly cord with a flame is easy and melts to a liquid fast, but is very difficult with dyneema weird.

Its no issue as dyneema has a very high melting point, also the friction is only really when you are adjusting with no weight in the hammock, when you are swinging there is very little friction. In...

What machine do you have, some dont like ultralights due to the feet design and then gaps between the teeth.

Holding the fabric infront of and behind the foot is essential.

I would say silpoy is low stretch easy to work with and sew, but very weak tear resistance, silnylon is very strong and long lasting but difficult to sew and stretches when wet.

To be honest going forward i will only be doing a zip all the way round with 4 sliders and storage peak bag, because its very light and if its removable there is a chance to forget to bring it.

You cant really make your own as you cant really souce the key for the separating part.
You can buy separating zippers for hammocks.
