I converted a Himalayan bag to an under quilt, it worked fine, I add it to my 20 degree under quilt when it gets colder, together there about 8" thick.
I also used thicker shock cord on the bottom...

I use a 20 degree under quilt and if its colder i use a himalayn bag converted to a under quilt. About 6-8" of loft. Thrift store bag. Good luck.
