I have used trail sticks in the exact way as the arrow shafts in this picture. I don't need to tie a marlin hitch rather just put the sticks in the end of the loops and put the whoopie around it...

Thanks Quoddy for your picture. It really does look simple. I assume like the Marlin Spike there is no force placed on the arrow shaft? Would your set up work with Easton Stakes?
