I agree with Rev, sounds like you have it upside down. The pad stays perfectly in place and at the right orientation when installed correctly.

It's all the joints and stitches you have to worry about. The webbing and rope can hold far more than 250lbs, but the hammock fabric cannot.

Turk, how does that stove break down? I'm assuming you hike with it. Have any pictures of it collapsed?

Panther Creek is a great place to camp! Easy trail and plenty of places to hang.

I received my Explorer Ultralite and matching Super Shelter on Monday. Weather was amazing during the day, so I couldn't wait to set it up and experience my first hammock!

I guess hammocks give a rocking motion similar to a boat, so port and starboard could be applicable!

Honestly, I CANNOT imagine wanting to sleep hanging off a cliff (although, I do agree with you). At least I'm just a few feet off the ground. If something decided to break, I might have a sore...

If you have any experience with the SuperShelter offered by HH, the pad is laid out this way as well. The foot end is to the right of the entry.

Now that's an interesting way to hang! (Given my EXTREMELY limited experience with hammocks) I don't think it would be all to comfortable. I definitely can see it's purpose, though.

Yay!!! UPS just dropped off the package from HH! Time to get into the back yard and set it up! Luckily its gonna be warm (70s) and clear skies....and I have the day off!

You want to think about what you want to carry on the trail as well. If you don't want to carry all that you listed here, I personally wouldn't do the test. I think simulating the night in things...

Think I might start tying everything up in one of the trees! Last thing I want on a backpacking trip is to lose one of my shoes! :scared:
