The ties stay on the rolled up tarp, tarp taken off ridge line and stowed. To deploy, I hang ridge line, connect tarp to RL, spread it out then slide the ties to each end. Maybe a total of 8-10...4...
I use elastic hair ties. Fast and simple to use.
Wow! Incredible.
Beautiful pictures! Tnx!
Tnx for the video, Layne. I may have to do that loop when I get out that way again....and I hope soon!
Smkymtns... Tnx for the post. I also enjoy taking a QRP rig out on the trail. I use the HB1B and a wire with a DIY tuner. de WA4CHQ
Tnx for the post. Looks like you and your friend had a great time. I'm heading out that way again once it cools down.
Good point. I guess instead of the figure 8's, you could go around it and just make it off with a slipped hitch. Then maybe it be just like the whoopie hung on the toggle.
Hey all. I've been busy building a house for the past 2 years. Have not been camping but am going this fall. I saw this post and wanted to add my 2 cents worth. It may have already been...
Very nice. Looks better than having eye-bolts in the wall!
Tnx Shug. Glad I wasn't hanging above rocks or porcupines!

It wasn't a quick fall but yes I'm glad about the padding! And yes, had a eye splice/prussic.
I have an eye spliced at the end that formed the prussic. I've only had one slip on me and that was the very first one I made and that didn't use the eye splice/prussic. I've hung with my current...
That looks like a nice setup you have, Texas Hanger!
Well this was a first. Midnight I woke up to take a leak and get some water. Climbed back into the hammock and got settled in, closed my eyes and WHAM! I'm on the ground! The head end UCR slipped!...
Hey all. I'm going to test the Klymit Static V again. It's going to be clear and a little breezy. Temps are supposed to be around 22 degrees, which is lower than last test. I've inflated the KSV...
BillyBob....good point. I hadn't thought about it that way..... What's the big rush? So true. Thanks for opening my eyes.
I thought I'd do the Griz-beaks but ended up making a set of doors but only for one side. I ran out of material. But so far, I've been really glad I can close the windward side.
OK. Time to share my thoughts on the new pad. First off, this is my first inflatable type of pad. I've only used foam (Gossamer Gear 1/4") and I haven't used it very much. Normally I use a DIY...
yes, that's the valve. I reckon we'll have to mod the bag inflater. Wonder in the bag valve adapter would "pull" the air out?

Love it out that way....Thanks for the report and pictures. I'm due to head out that way real soon....I hope!
Greetings all.....I got my pad the other day and tried it this afternoon. It's a Klymit Static V. I normally have been using my DIY UQ and occasionally supplemented with a small pad but I decided...
Tnx for the reply Ironfish45. Not sure I follow....I know what you are trying to do but I don't see how you are using the "circle of innertube" to cover the stem.
Tnx TrailSlug....I have a DIY UQ that I made a few years ago, but I'm toying with the idea of pad.
Hey all...are the inflater stems on some self inflating pads ok against the hammy fabric? Tnx

Ok, agree this should be another thread re: rocks and trees. Just think water in holes, then freezing temps over time do damage....over a real long time. Gotta believe God made trees to withstand...
Hey PG...tnx for the reply. Yeah, I'm nog losing any sleep over it and bet I do more damage walking thru the woods or hanging my pack up then hanging from the trees....lol.
I'm still wondering...
Thanks Phantom.....I'm still having a time visualizing how a slack line between two trees will damage the bark. LOL What about a loose hammock between two trees....does that have the same effect? ...
If the straps are tight around the trees and I attach a continuous line between them, with a little slack in the line, how will that damage the tree bark?

Hutzelbein, my quilts are made with CS apex and it was a pain working with. I followed the vids by Eric from CW Hammocks on YouTube. Hope you were able to finish the project without further...
I've tried the CRL for the hammock and gave up on it. On a side note, I thought it was interesting in the vid that they were drilling into the face of the rock. If it's not their property, isn't...
Greetings. Wondered if anyone has info about the trails between Grindstone Parking/Fox Cr. Parking to where the Lewis Fork Tr. comes out on the Crest Tr. Tnx

tnx for the reply and info!

Looks like a perfect time to be there, Tall Paul. I'm about due to head back out there...now that it's cooled off. Where do you park and have you heard of problems with break-ins? Thanks
Just looked at the specs...it could have been a little wider at the shoulders....still looks comfortable.

Thanks for the review. It looks pretty darn comfy. I have a DIY cs UQ which is fine but I'm not opposed to using a pad. Wonder how it does in cold weather as far as having CBS? On a side...
Be thankful it doesn't smell like my poop!

I just saw this post. Hopefully you've found something by now. But if not.....I know you mentioned UQ in your OP but you also mentioned being on a tight budget. Why not purchase a blue pad from...
If it were me, I'd start lighting some candles... ;)

I don't know, SilverSurfr....it looks like a classic case Condensatesweatoctious......wonder when if ImmortalViking had his booster shotz?
Lots of good advice here....hope you've found something that works for you. Is it possible to post pictures of your setup showing the "before"? Thanks
I was thinking the same thing...lol
Yes....I enjoy the cooler weather!
Just a reminder to myself why I don't like camping in the summer. I got over to my folks place about an hour ago after clearing some saplings etc. on property I bought last fall. It's pretty humid...
I always carry a pocket knife, unless I'm flying. That's all I've used to cut amsteel or anything on my boat....nylon or dacron. Keep it sharp.

I have the foam kind but I can't even remember to use them when I'm bush-hogging!
Hadn't thought about that....good point. Re: my pace....I walk pretty fast but at 63 I do get winded when I'm heading up the hills!
