Sold! Thanks!
Sold! Thanks!
It's been stored hanging in my closet uncompressed, next to some other hanging clothes. I do not smoke or own any pets.
Great question...should have included that in the OP.
Did you find one? PM me if not.
I've got a 20* 3/4 Yeti UQ - https://www.hammockforums.net/forum/showthread.php?t=81071

Looking for a 40-50 degree down top quilt. 800+ FP preferred. I need it to be approx. 84" x 54". The lighter, the better.
If you have one that fits the bill, let me know. PM is best. Thanks!
It was also listed on BPL too and I traded with someone on there. Would you mind filling me in on what protocols I missed? I read through the rules and guidelines and nothing stuck out to me.
Not...
Sold everything.
Can't edit the post on here for some reason. Thanks for the offers!
I may actually have enough scrap silnylon to add some sides to my existing rectangle tarp. I need some insight on dimensions for a hex tarp.
My SRL is 85" and my hammock (unweighted) hangs about...
I've thought of getting 3 more yards of sil 2nds and cutting my existing tarp in half and sewing it onto the edges of the new fabric...and maybe adding a cat cut to the bottom.
But now I keep...
The short version: Baby #1 is due november, gear budget is shot, I need to modify an existing 9.5' x 5' tarp to provide ample coverage for light rain with my 85" SRL (Ghost Hammock). Suggestions?

Anyone have an underquilt they are selling? I don't necessarily need to trade.
Selling/Trading:
*I have listed individual pricing AND group pricing. I would prefer to sell the Exped UL7 LW and Schnozzel together, as well as the Exped pillow and case together. Let me know...
I didn't see the kits on there. I'll make one out of some existing 0.9 oz/yd mesh I already have on hand to test it out.
Thanks!
Mind if you share what materials you used and where you bought them from? That sounds perfect.
Yes, DIY is the plan. Thanks! I'll take a look at those links.
I've already made a Fronkey style net for my 11' hammock, and it was too big for my needs. Now that I'm working with a shorter...
Well, I may have just answered my own question - I just did some more searching and found Dream Hammock's Bug Sock. I might try to make my own from some existing material to see how it works with my...
I was wondering if it worked well without an underquilt.
Hi, my name is Tyler and I am a gram weenie...but really just an ounce weenie on a budget.
Okay, now that we have that out of the way, I need some advice. I made a Ghost Hammock (thanks Sarge!)...
Familiar in a distant sense. I'm aware enough to see it coming and have experienced mild cases of it a few times.
I'm still trying to put together an itinerary for a day hike. Has anyone hiked...
It's finished! I have yet to test it, but it weighs in at 8oz.
Body: 5.6 oz
UCR's &SRL w/ bag: 0.7 oz
Toggles: 0.1 oz
Tree Straps: 1.6 oz

Ha! Didn't see that.
Forgot to mention these are lighter than my previous straps...which fits my overall goal of going lighter.
Any reason to think they aren't strong enough?
Ghost hammock is underway. The body is finished, as are the tree straps. Still working on the dynaglide UCR's and need to make a new SRL.
So far, the body weighs 5.6 oz and the straps weigh 1.6...
Thanks for the leads! This will be my second visit to the mountains of CO. I'm definitely expecting to need a few days to adjust to the altitude before doing a hike.
I'm also eyeing Long's Peak to...
Looking for a few day hike options that beat the crowds and still offer a good view and challenging hike. Any suggestions? I'll be there the 11th - 21st of this month.
Also, what other local info...
The thread title is misleading. I shoulda said "relatively short". The reason I'm not going with spreaders/bridge hammocks is because it counteracts my biggest goal of shedding weight. I'd love to...
Mine is the green 2nds from DIY Gear Supply. My single layer rig seems strong enough for me at 165 lbs. I see no reason to think making a Ghost Hammock out of the same material would be any different.
Any updates on your build? I realize that was quite a while back.
Since December, I almost gave up on using a hammock for backpacking. However, few weeks ago I decided to do surgery to my DIY 1.1...
I should have started with this - I made a video, so if you have a few minutes let me know if you could help me troubleshoot a few areas. I feel like this video does a good job covering the issues...
Any links you can post for how to make those? I feel like I saw an all-in-one system on REI's website - hammock + tarp - and it might have been a Byer rig...not sure...but I do know it wasn't the...
Let me know what you come up with. I'm brewing ideas in my head, but most seem to come up short when it comes to being practical.
Yes! Thank you!
And like SnrMoment mentioned - short hammock = short tarp, etc. = less weight overall. That's the idea behind this.
A Youtube search of "Creative Kate", "Creative Kate Hammock", and "CreativeKate" came up with nothing. Let me know if you can find a link.
I like the idea of pulling a majority of the material...
I'm sure there are great hammock out there manufactured by great companies, but I'm wanting to make my own - for the sake of saving money, and because it's fun.
And yes, I'm thinking about the...
Thanks for the heads up! I actually have 3 (maybe 4) rows of stitching on the channel. My original plan was to put whoopies through the channel. It wasn't until a few weeks ago that I tried whipping...
Thanks for the help here. I'm going to stick with a pad.
Any suggestion on whether to get an Exped UL 7 or the regular 7? Wasn't sure if the lighter weight compromised durability and if the UL...
There might be some threads on this already, so feel free to point me in the right direction.
Is there a way to make a short (under 9') gathered-end hammock that utilizes some sort of footbox...
Thanks for all the tips. My plan is to take out the whipping and go back to whoopies through the sewn channel. Is there a consensus on comfort levels between whipped ends and channels? Or is that...
Will do. Thanks Shug!
To make it a little easier, this bag really caught my eye - http://www.rei.com/product/836214/sierra-designs-zissou-lite-dridown-sleeping-bag
As did this bag -...
Here's the deal - I have no funds to make gear right now except some store credit at REI, but I need some sort of insulation for my hammock. My options are 1)exped air pad, or 2)modify a mummy bag...
Nice! I'm looking to build the same tarp.
Can I ask what purpose the crossgrain has? Is it there just to provide more strength than a roll hem would provide?
And is there any reason you...
Now this is interesting - http://www.hammockforums.net/forum/showthread.php?t=31584
I have 4 yards of 1.9 ripstop coming, so this might be a fun project. And making it shorter would cut a little...
With an asym tarp, i'll use my pack cover on one end to provide some protection, and I've tought about making an under-cover from silnylon.
But I take it that the consensus on asym hammocks is...
Can you reply with a link to the Claytor end channel hammock you mentioned?
And I forgot to mention that I sleep with a small pillow between my knees. It helps, but it's not a complete fix.
So...
