I use amsteel. Mostly because I had a bunch of it, but it holds knots well and I like the strength and versatility of it. Little bulkier than zingit though

I do the same thing and have been in some torrential rains in my hammock and haven't got wet yet....
The Kelly Noah tarp has side pullouts if you wanna go cheaper, it's a very durable and versatile tarp, but heavy and bulky
I use an inflatable rei sit pad blown up about half way so it curls around my feet. Been down to 15 comfortably with that
I don't think you can go wrong with any of the brands you are looking at. I personally own quilts from both HG and UGQ. I am extremely pleased with both of them. My HG has been field tested MUCH more...
Hopefully attached is a pic of my Zeppelin and the original Flight Jacket... never tried posting a pic so forgive me if I screws up...
Just wanted to share with you all my great appreciation for Paul & Missy at UGQ. I received my Black Friday delivery of a beautiful 0+1 oz full length Zeppelin and a 72" 40+2oz Flight Jacket on...
If i were 5'9" i woukd think a 72 would be perfect. I am 6'2" and I ordered the 72 thinking that that is 6' and plenty big, NOT taking into account the foot box closing and "spring" effect. It worked...
Just ordered my 40° Flight Jacket and 0° Zeppelin!:D And now the nail biting begins as I impatiently await it's arrival...
Sorry for the late response, kinda forgot I posted on this thread... that's some good advice, there's no way I get my little wuss bag to sleep on the ground. They're such babies... Gonna have...
Awesome pics. I have a similarly sized pit I've been wanting to try to hang with, but been worried about his nails damaging my hammock. Have you noticed snags/punctures being an issue?
Tarp held up great. It was more an issue with my rigging... I love that tarp. I think the versatility of it far outweighs the size and weight. Someday I will buy a cuben fiber though...
Glad you enjoyed yourself! It's a nice place for a quick trip (especially if you're only an hour away.). I've never seen the cabins up close before, look nice. BTW, how was your kid's t-ball game?
I really appreciate the praise. Don't expect too much from my channel...I don't get out as much as I'd like and I am just getting into this video thing. I will however, be attempting more when I...
Thanks so much. There was a path down to the water from my site, but it was too boggy for me to get to the water. Probably could have made a crude log bridge easy enough, but MY lazy side said...
Yeah, I assumed no too, hence the lugging of wood. Then I read this "leave no trace" deal they have stapled to the tables and it mentions gathering downed wood. Thought this might be a generic...
On 5-10-13 I went for my first solo hang ever. Due to SHT trail conditions and previous plans following through, I ended up going to Lake Maria State Park. It's a pretty nice place for being only...

This is my first video ever so...
Yesterday was absolutely perfect...untill 11:45 pm when apocalyptic wind blew in and had a personal vendetta against my tarp:eek:...still beat sleeping indoors.
Ending up heading to Lake Maria for a hang due to trail conditions and lack of interest. Look forward to hanging with you all and anyone else interested in the future.
Looks like it's back to a solo hang for me...
Right now I'm waiting for confirmation from algonz. I'll keep you posted
I really like my synthetic camp pillow, but find I never take it with me backpacking due to the bulk. Lately I've really dugged using my Stoic dry stuff sac with just bary some air sealed into it. ...
Thanks for the update my friend. It gives me hope. You just have to get out there and enjoy it. My first night was in a 40* terrential rain with a foam pad and mylar emergency blanket. It was...
Thanks for the report. Hopefully enough melts for a more enjoyable hike. I packed my snow shoes away for the winter...Everyone think warm thoughts!:)
Getting real jazzed to head out it the woods...the weather is looking great so far...:thumbup1:
Meeting you at century about 9:00 would work great for me. Meeting at Cross River seams to be the most practical.
I have Friday off and wouldn't mind carpooling. I could only fit one other person in my car, but would be willing to contribute gas money I'd soneone else wanted to drive.
I'm in for sure too. PM me and we can figure out details.
I'm down with putting on a few miles and stretching my legs as long as the snow is gone. I've only done a couple shorter stretches of the SHT, so I'm open to suggestions.
I have not done that stretch before. I would be game for that.
Only picked Cascade because I was planning solo and its familiar. I'm completely open to change if anyone else is interested.
I am a Newb. This is my first thread posting ever. Forgive any mistakes... My normal hang partner can't make it the only weekend I'm available in May(sorry Mom.) Was planning on trying out my first...
Gotta say, as a Newb and a fan, its pretty cool getting a response to my first post from the man who inspired me to hang...Apologies for gushing, I'm better now. Keep on doin what you're doin man!
All the best edibles in life come from a necessity to preserve or purify: BEER, wine, pickles, preserves, cured meats, charcuterie. It's all ControlledRot.
A buddy of mine and I wanted to get into backpacking in early 2012, he said "I'm thinking about getting a hammock." I thought, "That sounds interesting." Did a little research, watched some Shug...
It shipped!!!! Oh downy goodness you shall soon be mine... (order #303 for any of you like me who that somehow helps make the wait more bearable)
Looks like I just bought myself my third item on my Xmas list...Thanks for the great deal!
