You're right, of course.
Have a Dutch Hook on my UL tarp suspension.
Here it is:

Vertical trail sticks under the part that goes around the tree.
My Dynaglide suspension with a Dutch Hook on the tree end and Speed Hook at the hammock is 1.4 ounces.
They are 16 feet long.
I used a brass brush on my Dremel.
But put an extra half hitch on the Dynaglide lead to it.
I have used both Speed Hooks and Anchors. My sense is that the shredding is from edges not being finely finished enough.
Don't know what Dutch does to finish his but the Anchors are tumbled in a...
Thanks!
Yes, have my Emberlit in a Tyvek case, along with a pair of gloves. It is great stuff and a very good idea for the fire helper. Thank you, Dux!
We're having a cool spell this...
Thanks, Alan.
Will drive out into the country to see the meteor showers tonight.
Okay, after some great feedback on a thread that was moved to the pay per view section ...
The following UL hammock camping list is the result of my recent UL hammock camping shake out trip, which...
That's a good one!
Thanks, Red.
I'm flexible, Uncle.
My offer to pay for 29 stands and will share but I'll hang wherever it is best.
The Hammock Forums "powers that be" have not gotten back to me about "religious" content in my signature, though they profess to have the issue of banned topics under discussion.
How long does it...
I'd be glad to pay for East Texas Hanger if he doesn't mind sharing with me.
Thanks!
I enjoy it a lot.
My DIY Winter Climashield UQ has shock cord on the short ends that run up to the ridgeline (and yes, for cinching closed on the ends) and shock cord through the long sides that run to carabineers at...
Would you switch me to 29, Rat? Love me some trees.
Used mule tape is sometimes given away free.
My entire signature was removed, name and all, which perfectly illustrates my point.
Never did I abuse the privilege of being here with any comment in posts beyond my signature, which is who I am....
Dear Moderators and All,
If a religious or political topic is banned that is in itself a religions and political statement.
If, for instance, a Christian or Jew posts passages from the Bible,...
Dear Friends,
Just received a PM from the administrators of this site that they removed my "religious" signature.
Though professing to be non-controversial it is obvious to me that banning any...
What do the capacity numbers mean on sites?
Sounds like a good resolution.
That makes sense.
1. You should be able to adjust the ridge line to get enough sag in the middle for a flat lay and troughs on each side if you lie diagonally.
2. Yes, the shock cord should be looped around the...
My hybrid bug net/weather sock is extremely light, using .34 ounce CF and nanoseeum.
Another option is polycro peak beaks. Polycro weighs about .5 ounces a square yard. It's very cheap but can...
Yes, I've used it as much without the tarp as with. Last Friday night I pulled back the tarp because of a nice sky with full moon. It was downright cool at 72 night-time degrees in July in Texas!
...
It's probably because the folded perimeter edge does not stretch but the field/middle/body of the tarp does due to wind, weather, and cramming into the pack.
My pack is a Gossamer Gear Murmur that I bought here. It was a fantastic bargain.

9x7 would be a very nice size.
CF is taut and tough.
Here are better pictures of what makes the minimalist tarp work for me: What Is That Thing?

I use my DIY 9x6 CF tarp that way but in conjunction with a hybrid bug net/weather sock.

Thanks!
Yes, it was great. The best part was how well my gear worked and being so light. Of course, gun, knife, and tactical light were on my belt. And I carried extra water because it was so...
BIAS still does a lightweight hammock: http://www.buttinasling.com/wewemi.html and you can get a bug net there.
Dutch sells hammock bodies and nets:...
Water sports?
Are you kidding me?
Who carried all that stuff up through the woods?
LOL
Seems no one suffered at all!!!
I wonder what is more miserable ...
Baked in Texas ...
Or Frozen in MN?
And why would anyone intentionally do such things?
Yes, near Turkey, home of Bob Wills, Texas Swing musician!
Of all the environments in which I've camped (Comanche County, South Texas, Gulf Coast (Texas and Florida), New Mexico, Southern...
Welcome! You're in for a great experience!
I always feel rested after a night in the hammock.
Thanks, brother.
Was thinking of you guys during my own hotful hang this past weekend: https://www.hammockforums.net/forum/showthread.php/113313-My-UL-Weekend-Hang
Didn't have a spiked watermelon, though! LOL
Was thinking about you guys. Did my own version of the Hotful Hang this weekend.
BTW, that Permethrin-soaked jute twine didn't work like I wanted. Dropped a piece of cheese on the ground cloth and within an hour there was a gang of ants on it.
Could sprinkle crumbs on sausage and cheese, I guess. ;-)
Can't wait to hear all about it!
In February I rolled my truck on an icy bridge. It destroyed the truck and banged me up pretty good. Last week I was finally fixed up and so decided to take the weekend for an UL shake out hang.

That's really nice. Great job!
I've been doing the half hitch with a bite but pulling the bite through to release after loading all night seems more destructive than pinching the lead with a Speed Hook.
Spare the ethicist
For they are quite rare! LOL
Plan to do so this weekend.
Sleeping under a tarp since I was a child always ... bugged me.
Texas has ticks, mosquitos, spiders, scorpions, ants ...
Learned always to check my boots and shoes for creepy crawlers.
