The UQ does lift the hammock a little, but I guess it needs to be more. Thank you for the reply Shug, I always enjoy your videos.
Thank you for the reply. I think you are correct I need to tighten the suspension.
Thank you for the reply. I couldn't find any pictures of the UQ. I have several of the setup with the fly on, but that doesn't help. I am using the Warbonnet Blackbird with the Warbonnet Yeti though.
I have a 3/4 length Yeti which seems to be hanging too low on my Warbonnet Blackbird: leaving an air gap between my hammock and my under quilt. I am mounting the Under Quilt to the hammock the way...
This is what I have the biggest problem with. I (almost) feel bad when I use 1" straps instead of 1.5" straps.
I’m currently using a strap to continuous loop configuration (Jbend, Becker Hitch) and think it’s the bee’s knees. I have a set of Dynaweave straps. I have only had the opportunity to use them once....
Good to know. Thank you.
CMC, I bought the small aluminum LoopAliens. I was thinking about putting them in the middle of my continuous loop, so they wouldn't be contributing anything structurally.
I am probably better...
I had a thought about water breaks in my suspension. What about using a LoopAlien? My current configuration is a continuous loop with strap an Becket Hitch. I am envisioning making a bite with the...
Thank you both for the quick response. Eidson, the second link in particular was a good read. I will continue to support David from LoopAliens.
I just bought a set of LoopAliens for my rain fly and I am really excited. I bought them from the LoopAlien site directly for $5 each plus ~ $4 S&H. Just out of curiosity, I went and looked at...
Mostly for easy removal. My first version had mason line with a knot completing the loop; I got a little ambitious with the amsteel continuous loop. I use the marlin spike hitch on my bear bag as...
I made a set of toggles with a 10" continuous loop through them. I plan on using them as the "spike" in my marline spike hitch for my suspension and my bear bag hung in the PCT method.
They are...
That's actually what I use at home for my normal cup.
I use round filters. Fold in half then half again = cone.
Everyone's pretty well got you covered for hammock advice, but I have coffee advice. I use the MSR filter and love it. I can't stand instant coffee: not even Starbucks Via.
...
Yeah, that's what I was picturing, but this had me confused.
What is the Nalgene trick exactly? Is it just putting warm water in the bottle or is it more than that?
A table cloth blank costs ~$19.

Thank you guys for the reply. I ended up camping at Elk Neck State Park in MD. I called ahead and they were very hammock friendly.
Anyone out there former squids? This reminds me K-type shoring.

See page 11 and 12 for measuring shoring with...
ccartertn,
Are you using the ring buckle method? I've tried it several times. I love the simplicity of it but I can't get my straps not to slip. I'm planning on using whoopies.
I know, boo hoo...
Perfect. Thank you very much. It looks like you had a similar request.
My little three year old girl thinks she needs a hammock and of course she requested pink. I've found an ENO which is rose/brown (pretty **** close to pink IMO), but then happened across "table cloth...
I am looking for recommendations for somewhere to hang in SE Pennsylvania/ NW Delaware. My brother-in-law drills with the Air National Guard in New Castle, DE and I thought I would tag during one...
From what I've read, ~ 1000lbs breaking strength for your suspension is kind of your target. The Amsteel 7/64 is 1600 and the 1/8 is 2300 (if I remember correctly, but that can be verified on the...
My setup (for now ;) ) is:
Hammock -->continuous loop --> aluminum ring rated at 1000lbs attached to the CL via the pass-through larks head method-->whoopie sling (normal larks head). I then put a...
I use them for modularity because I always change my mind about what suspension I want. I've installed them on my gathered end sewn channel hammock and my Hennessy. They also provide a nice spot to...
I use 12' per whoopie, 40" per continuous loop (never made soft shackles, but they must be similar) and your ridgeline should be about 83% of your hammock length (~110")
Caleb
That's the configuration I use. I did change out the carabiner for an aluminum ring. It's a tad lighter but provides modularity in suspension choice and a water break.
Here is a great guide. I don't use quite the 15' but I do refer to his instructions every time and always buy from him.

Sorry. I wasn't very clear. I start out with 12' of Amsteel as raw material. My finished product is ~ 5.5 feet long on each side with about 4 feet of it as the adjustable loop. I'm not looking at it...
I'd start out with 12-15 feet of line per side. I use 12 feet. I also have 6' tree huggers and can get quite a distance apart. I have more trouble when my tie points are too close.
I don't have a GT SBP, but I do have a gathered end hammock with a channel sown in it. I used 40" of 7/64 Amsteel to make a continuous loop for each end which I then threaded through the channel. ...
I think they will actually become shelves and the 2x4 painted to match the wall or maybe stained.
Lol, yeah that's what my wife was envisioning when she said "ok".
Here is my setup for my basement. Based off of the force calculator on Derek's " theultimatehang.com " page, I assumed worst case scenario with 1000# of horizontal force. Since I have NO idea what is...
My current set up is a HH Expedition with a JRB Hudson River UQ. I am very pleased with this set up and love the UQ. That being said though, I seem to have this continual need to try the play with...
Yeah, that's kind of what I thought. Thank you.
I was asking around for old knitting needles to cut into toggles, when someone mentioned to me “aren't you worried about adding metal to your hammock because of lightening?” Well, I wasn't until...
I currently have my sleeping arrangement pretty close to where I want it and think it is time to look elsewhere to lighten my pack.
Hammock: HH Expedition/ENO DN
Suspension: Whoopie (Amsteel...
I used the sticky thread titled "continuous loop pictorial" in the suspension forum to create a 12" loop from 40" of 7/64 Amsteel. I'm attaching a picture if what they look like attached to a...
Somewhere to look would be BassPro (and Cabelas too I suspect). They custom cut arrows for archers for a proper fit. I was able to get 6 ~ 3" carbon fiber shafts for free.
Bottom entry with a shock cord draw string in the existing curtain rod channels.

Oh, and don't judge the suspension set up. It is temporary until my Amsteel comes tomorrow. :)
I'm quite proud of my new DIY bug net. The materials are two sheer curtains from Walmart for a total of $10. I wish the idea was mine, but it isn't so I am attaching the YouTube video to give credit...
I am glad you are familiar with that trick because I was trying to look up the link. I read about it on here, from someone much smarter than me, and I was racking my brain trying to remember which...
Actually, I don't find this to be true. You can insert a ring or buckle mid line with a girth hitch.
With slack in the line:
Pinch the line together to form a loop
pass the loop to go...
I think the aluminum rings is the route I will end up taking. Thank you. I currently have two Omega Pacific rings, but those seem heavy. I will probably get the lighter ones from DIYgear.
I recently read on Derek's blog "The Ultimate Hang" about all the advantages of the continuous loop and I am sold. The one scenario he didn't cover (or I missed) was attaching a whoopie sling to a...
