Sounds great. I'm moving back to WA from Germany so it may be awhile before I can assemble decent camping gear again ;)

Ah man! Going to miss this one by just a couple weeks! I've been wanting to go to a hang and give a hammock a try. I'll have to try to make the next one. Have fun everyone!
Cuben? And that dyneema stuff works well for ridgelines and such? Cause man the price is great and it appears they're even in Germany!
Excellent, I'll check it out. Thanks again guys!
Holy cow, only finding it in 150' rolls lol!
I'd need to find a supplier of this stuff in the EU to save me a ton on shipping unfortunately.
Cool, thanks a lot guys. I'll try to track down some of this Zing it stuff.
Would it be a waste of money to use Amsteel for my tarp ridgeline and tie outs? I ask cause I have nothing and will have to order something regardless. I also heard 550 cord is a bad idea cause it...
That's what I was hoping to hear!
Do you use the complete set up sold by DD or another brand?
I'm considering buying the complete whoopie sling set up to try to make my first hang easier. Anyone have this? How is it? Thanks!
Yeah I'm going to have to find someway to replace those. The weight from the webbing alone is excessive. Not really sure how to go about doing that though. Ideally I'd like to wrap something around...
Hmm, her suspension is different than mine and I don't have those poles she has to hold the bug net up. Mine doesn't have sleeves to hold poles either, just loops.
What did you change the suspension to? That tarp looks about 2x as large as it needs to be!
So I got a DD hammock and tarp (3m x 3m) gifted to me and want to go ahead and set the bad boy up. I pulled everything out in my room and holy cow that 3m x 3m tarp is gigantic!!! Is that the average...
I ddhammocks site they have a kit with whoopieslings, carabiners and tree huggers all together. I was thinking about getting that.
I noticed he wasn't using whoopie slings. If you were to set it up like that would it be: tree huggers from the tree then that connected to a carabiner that's connected to the whoopie sling that's...
I think that's how I'll have to go. I planned on adding tree huggers and a whoopie sling to my hammock anyways and it appears you'll need those to set it up that way. Thanks for the link!
Hmmm no cord locks on mine, guess I need to get some.
Got it. So the whoopiesling just makes hanging the hammock easier. I would still have to worry about suspending the tarp (not such a pain, I think).
Normal site worked perfect, weird. So that little whoopie sling will hold my 220lb booty eh? And how do you get the right whoopiesling for your hammock? Is it designed to keep the ridgeline taught...
Having trouble viewing these, I think it's the YouTube app keeps pausing over and over. I'll try the normal site.
Sorry I'm such a raving noob but I would remove the thick black webbing from the ends of my hammock and attach the whoopie along there? This would also give me a nice taught ridgeline?
Anyone know?
Anyone else know?
Would changing to tree huggers stop the hammock from getting wet like that?
Here is the end of my hammock if that helps matters at all. 49768
DD says that I just tie those two bits of webbing around a tree "like tying my shoes"...this just doesn't sound like a good idea. So...
49766b Here is where I run into confusion. I thought there was supposed to be some "S" clip or something for me to attach this thing to the hammock. That picture shows the end. 49767 the second shows...
I have no idea. I thought I could remove the suspension that comes with it put in some tree huggers and call it a day! I wish I could find a group hang around here so I could actually have someone...
Those are better. I'm not actually looking to make my own tree huggers though. I just want to buy some and put them on my hammock. I'm just confused as to remove the existing suspension system and...
Lol, those diagrams might as well be in Swahili. I'm trying to keep it as simple as humanly possible. Thanks for the link just the same!
How does one go about adding tree huggers (looking at eno slap straps) to a DD traveler? I'm trying to get the set up as simple as possible since its my first hammock. I want to tie as few knots as I...
Got it, I think I was reading too much into it. It was easier than I thought.
It's the DD Travel Hammock and a Snugpak UQ
So I got this hammock given to me but I'm a bit lost on how to attach the UQ! I checked the manufacturer's website they don't have much in the way of set up videos or anything.
He said its the SnugPak UQ.
Now I just have to figure out how to set it all up!
A few weeks ago I posted asking where to order a hammock in Europe, shortly after I got a PM from a user in Switzerland offering to send me not only a hammock but an UQ AND a tarp! Of course I...
Alright I'll try my pad first. I'll be using it in summer so I won't freeze to death regardless.
I think full, down or synthetic doesn't matter to me. I'd like to not spend a ton to start with but I realize they don't come cheap.
Any idea on where to get a UQ as well? I sleep a bit cold so I don't think a sleeping pad will cut it.
Thanks a lot for all that info. I'm thinking eBay will probably be my best bet. I'll just keep my eyes open for a good deal.
So if I got that I would still need to get a ridgeline and a tarp too? I've always liked Henessy Hammocks because you can get everything all at once (appealing since I know I get all I need and it...
I'd like to give a hammock a try this spring or summer. I'd like to try something cheap to see if I like it before diving all the way in (I'm a side sleeper). Shot in the dark here but I'm living in...
Yeah, mine was in the stuff sack all tightened down to the size of a football all that time...hopefully I don't freeze my first night in it.
I just made an international move and had limited space. I had ship my sleeping bag compressed and just now got it. It was compressed for....4 months and its a TNF Cats Meow (synthetic bag). Its been...
Hello,
I was wondering if you can add something like ENO's Atlas: http://www.eaglesnestoutfittersinc.com/product/AST001.html
to a HH Asym Expedition Zip? This will be my first hammock ever and I...
I have a bit of an odd question. I watched all of Shug's videos awhile back. Now I live in Germany and I can only watch one of his "Hammock Camping for Noobs" videos (part 2). When I try to watch the...
what the heck is 2qzq and where do you get it done? Also, if you don't have a zipper along the bug net isn't it impossible to toss the bug net back and use it as a chair (on a HH)?
I'm narrowing my choices of hammocks down and I think I've got it down to the Hennessy Hammock Expedition Asym Zip or Non zip...So the question is, does a zipper make a huge difference? Is it there...
