I am leaning towards postponing. The thought of a wet trail, possibly snow, and a gear-laden bike is not that attractive. If the forecast clears up, though, it may be worth a shot

It is a bit of a windy road, but then again you may hit skier rush hour traffic between Evergreen and Idaho Springs on a Friday afternoon...

You could check Google Map traffic as you get close...

Trailryder42, you might already know the area well, but you might check out taking I-70 to Evergreen and then coming up the back way to Echo Lake on Squaw Pass Road.
