Count me in.
I have made both a regular baffled and a Karo step baffled quilt and in my opinion the regular baffled quilt was both easier in construction and stuffing the down.
A Karo step seems easier but I...
The silnylon comes on a cardboard roll. If you don't ask they will ship it on the roll which then incurs oversized shipping fees. If you ask for it off the roll they will fold it and put it in a...
Call Noah Lamport @ (800) 548-6940. They have silnylon seconds for $3 a yard. Make sure you let them know you want it off the roll and they also charge a cutting fee ( either $5 or $10 I can't...
I have never ordered from DIY Gear Supply but I know from his reputation on the forum that you will not be disappointed by either the quality of the product or service if you do order from him.
Just making sure I understand...you seam seal the side with only one exposed stitch line, correct? Which means all my reinforcement patches should go on the same side as the seam sealant.
I have started construction of a Winter Tarp and have a question. Once the flat felled seam is sewn, which side is the inside? The side with one row of stitching or two or does it matter?
I think its actually http://www.outdoortrailgear.com
I'm betting he got them on eBay. You just have to watch for them and be lucky enough to win a bid. I got 2 of the King size about a year ago. Have only used one so far but it had ~25 oz of 800fp...
No one at SG/BO was defending this method of measuring a tarp. Kathy, whom I spoke with, seemed to not be aware they were not standard 12' square tarps until she went and measured one after...
I just spoke with Kathy at SW/BO and she said she pulled a tarp from their stock and the 12x12 is measured corner to corner. The options as explained to me are:
1) Return the 2 tarps for a full...
I wonder if I can refuse the shipment at this point and get a full refund? I guess I will need to call them. Mine apparently just shipped today even though I ordered last Thursday.
Just spoke...
I'm holding out false hope that mine will be the advertised 10x10 but know better.
Ordered these last week for a Boy Scout campout this coming weekend. Wanted a little more privacy than the...
Happy St Patty's day
Depending on color, I'll take it. Message sent.
Both packs sold
The NIP pack is sold. The remaining one is the used one. It is green(Golite called it coriander) and is 50L.
Open one sold, NIP still available
Have 2 Golite Jams I bought during GoLites clearance. One was never used and is still in the package. The other was used 3-4 times by my son. He has now...
Looking for a Pinnacle in Large.
Color doesn't really matter.
Thanks.
When you use the one ended method it is not possible to put anything inside the deadeye loop. However, using the two ended method it is possible to put a ring inside the deadeye loop.
How big a piece of fabric did you start out with and how big was the finished sack?
1) Karo Step UQx2
2) Karo Step TQx2
3) Tarpx2 (haven't decided on design yet)
4) Mess of stuff sacks
5) Fleece hat(s)
6) Wristees (x?)
And best of all my wife has committed to knitting me a...
I'm in. Thanks.
I'm in. Thanks.
The amount of down used to fill the volume would be 25% less with the 800fp down. For example a 80x40x2 UQ would take 10.6oz of the 600fp down but would only take 8 oz of the 800fp down.
Newton GT:
Send me a PM with your address and I will get the tarp ridgeline shipped tomorrow.
The item offered below is free. I will pay shipping within Cont. USA unless arrangements are made otherwise.
2. 1st to post they want it gets it.
3. You must also "Pay it Forward" by posting...
I'll take it
If I understand this correctly then I would buy down based on the 3 inches of loft I want not the 2.5 inches of baffle height, correct?
I did notice in the 4th paragraph under ridgelines you mention the ridgeline running under the "hammock". I think you meant under the tarp. But definitely a well written piece using the excellent...
Thanks for dealing with the frustration so that all of us can get a GREAT deal on some Amsteel.
SPF to yardman228
New price $70 each shipped with snakeskins
Have 2 HH Scout Classic hammocks that I got through their Holiday sale. I have no need for these and need them to move on to get some money for Quilts. Asking $70 each shipped. I will include one...
jbo, how wide is your UQ? Seems like you would have to lay at a pretty severe diagonal to make it cover.
Thanks opie for the explanation on what is carrying the load. I should be ok on my buries as I buried about 3" plus the taper. I did the math and 1 fid on 7/64 Amsteel works out to 2.29". Not as...
Done. Have gotten way more than $10 value out of this forum.
I initially made 2 whoopie slings using simple buried eyes I was going to lock by stitching but went back and used the method of turning the rope inside out to turn them into locked brummels. Then...
I do mostly car camping now as almost all of my camping is done with the Boy Scouts and my son has not yet shown a desire to do the "high adventure" type camping yet. However in the last year he has...
Wow, 35 ounces...that must be an Artic rated quilt. As I live in Memphis I am looking at at most a 20 degree rating as I am a cold sleeper and I can always vent the quilts if I need to for warmer...
Those of you who have extenders or extra long whoopie slings, how high up the tree do you have to set your tree straps. I know with a normal hang (~15ft between trees) straps need to be about 6 ft...
I guess that's true...when you do the math its only a couple of ounces. However, I plan to order it premeasured from Stormcrow and would like to get it right the first time.
Maybe I'll just order...
I have just made some locked brummels on my whoopie slings and only used a 4 inch bury. According to the thread on locked brummels stickied at the top the bury should be 1 1/4 fids. With 7/64...
I'm not overly worried about the weight as most of my camping is car camping. Mainly worried about how much down to order as I only want to order once to minimize the shipping charges. While having...
Does Cold Toe syndrome happen worse in a hammock than it does on the ground? I got frostbite when I was a teenager in Boy Scouts so my hands and feet get cold really fast and stay cold. I have...
I'm in for 200' of gray and 100' of black
I just got a hammock and am already planning on DIYing top and under quilts for myself and my son. However I have a question about overstuff. I know it is good to overstuff a down quilt as it keeps...
I have been lurking here for a while but finally got my first hammock thanks to HH's Holiday sale. Got 2 Expeditions, one for myself and one for my son. We are both active with the Boy Scouts and...
