Have been under one for years without a complaint. Enjoy!
Whether you go with 20 or 0, a neat feature of the incubator is the thicker baffles under the torso: in warm weather just put the thiner (bottom) end under your torso. Less insulation and without...
It would be nice if delivery options included a box to check that read: DO NOT deliver if Wife's car is in the driveway. But then again, facing the wrath is sometimes so worth it! It's that whole...
This is not orignial with me, but I just turn my 3 season incubator over so that I am actuall defeating the differential baffe and compressing the down. Not too hot, not too cold.
Welcome! +1 to hanging in the yard to get a little experience. I started with an eno dn several years ago with the thought of upgrading if I liked hammocks. It is so comfortable I haven't been...
When the wife joins me and the boys, we take our retired tent for gear storage and changing. After a rainy night, it always brings a smile to my face to see the puddles in the tent while I was high...
Welcome! You are certainly in the right place to find answers, suggestions, and lots of options.
My son just got 15' straps from Arrowhead and thinks they are a bit long. However, he used to have 8' and had to carry his original eno slapstraps in case he had to hang from a large diameter tree. ...
I used braided mason line from a big box store for years with no issues other than tangling. However, I didn't try to make a single ridge line, but had lines attached at both ends of the tarp. ...
Another trick for using a winter UQ on a warmer night is to turn it upside down so that you are actually compressing it. Not original with me, but I like it because you don't get any drafts like you...
Welcome, and enjoy the journey!
Looks like a great escape!
Go with one of the cottage industry guys on this site: you won't be dissappointed. I prefer a large tarp, and love the versatility of the Jacks 10x11 cat tarp.
Arrowhead has brought a smile to my face more than once!
My favorite trail in NC (so far) is the BMT in the GSMNP. Incredible variety, lots of history, plenty of water for bathing, and the fishing aint bad either. And if I can figure out how to trap one,...
My son just ordered one as well, he is 17 and incredibly inpatient. However, it is not just a matter of pulling one off the shelf and shipping. These babies are handmade to order, so leave him...
Nice. I saw a 4pack of guylines with Nite Ize figure 9's at ****'s Sporting Goods, but there is no such thing as too much Dutchware!
I have been camping and fishing on the Chattooga River for about 30 years, and I swear it has nothing to do with squealing pigs!
Love my ENO, but still having a little WBBB envy. However, I can't imagine another hammock being any more comfortable.
Welcome from South Carolina! Last time my tent came out of the attic was so that I could scavenge some material for a stuff sack.
Instead of using a pad in the warmer weather, try turning your uq over so that the baffles are compressed against the hammock. This trick works well with my 20* Incubator.
Welcome and enjoy!
embuggerance This could be my new favorite word! But can it be used in public!?
you're gonna love it!
I have a 20* Incubator and am beginning to realize there is much more to this than cinching and venting. For example, I read somewhere on HF about turning the UQ over in warm weather to compress the...
There are fewer unhappy people on HF than anywhere on the planet! I wasn't trying to start anything, I just enjoy being around people who are happy to be where they are wherever that may be!
Mine came with different colored s biners to distinguish head from foot ends. Work great!
Welcome! There is always room for people who are happy to be here. I say that to all my new neighbors from New Jersey :-)
Welcome! I don't have a Clark, but love my whoopies. Well, I don't love 'em quite as much as I did since they don't have Dutchware Whoopie Hooks!
just ordered 4 - Santa will be putting these babies in some stockings (including mine)!
Thanks for the discount code :-)

Nice to have 2 different s biners to distinguish head from foot: head end has thicker baffles for the torso. In the summer, I sleep with the thinner half under my torso and leave it a little loose...
Read on friend! Some of the guys on this forum aren't comfortable unless they are hanging in below freezing temps. I have to ventilate my 3 season incubator to keep from overheating in the 50's. ...
small stainless lock-washer from the hardware store
Looks good to me, and as long as the whoopie is on the knot and not the toggle, a little angle shouldn't be a problem. I should add that I don't recall my toggles shifting though. Shugg's "slow mo"...
I am a fan of big tarps: let's you set up a "porch" for a place to hang out and move around a bit on rainy days. I have the JRB Cat and love it. Heavier than some, but very versatile.
I suspect you will be discovering the ultimate hammock setup a little sooner than the rest of us. Peace be with you.
Not sure I would trust the wool to keep me warm below 40F. It would be nice to be able to try it where you could also have the pad handy as a backup.
Nice - I might just have to give that a try.
Well done and wecome!
Hopefully, the capacities weren't determined by the same folks who designed airline seats!
Mayday identified the source as a ranger friend, and it is good to know that at least one ranger is hammock friendly. Not new information as far as any rule changes, but could be helpful if there...
Welcome! I love WV - another state in which I almost caught a trout.
It rains in the Smokies even when there is a zero percent chance of rain in the forecast, so good coverage is important. I don't think you could go wrong with any of the HF listed vendors. I love...
Well done!
This got my attention, and probably deserves a new thread, but I can't find the new thread button on my screen:confused: what is the prefered material for tarp guy lines? I have been using mason...
Not familiar with your tarp, nor am I an expert, but I would think that wind and ground conditions should be factors. I have hung my JRB up high with little pitch in order to have an area to stand...
Great pics! Time well spent, JayB.
I no longer use my slap straps, but in their defense, I think the material is more durable than the non stretch variety.
I can tell you the results right now: I am saving up for one of Stormcrow's 3 season incubators!
